The winners included: ladies' high, Betty Thompson; men's high, Frank Thompson; ladies' low, Evelyn Christensen; men's low, Ray Cox; lone hands, Heather Lindsay. The WI plan to hold their next card party sometime in January. People report Visitors with Barb and Alvin Betties were Mr. and Mrs. Alex Stewart and Karen of Kincardine. ancL_Mrs.. A__Bettles_of Clinton and Mrs. Lizzy Robertson have returned home after spending the long weekend with the Betties. It's good to hear that Mrs. Gerald Innes has returned home after ,spending a period of•time in St. Joesph's Hospital in London. Get well wishes go out to Mrs . Innes. United news On Sunday, morning worship service was held at the Holmesville United Church with Rev. John Oestreicher in charge. Kristen and Greg Crawford assisted Mr. Oestreicher in lighting the advent candle before the children went to their Sunday SchoolIclasses. The minister reminded everyone that you never walk alone and the of- fering was collected by Doug Yeo and Doug Norman. At the school The Holmesville Public School junior hays volleyball team placed third at a November 21 tournament. Six teams played in the boys competition and in the girls play, the Holmesville juniors missed the pennant by one game. The senior boys started out extremely well, winning their first two matches. The best game of the day came when they competed against,. Robertson Public from Goderich, but Robertson managed to win and moved into the finals against Colborne Central. All teams -di -splayed -teem_ determinatione excellent skills and good sport- smanship and should' be congratulated for their fine showing. Congratulations also go out to Kimberly Ann Bruinsma, a grade 6 student who placed second " in the Remem- branc6 Day literary contest, sponsored by the Clinton Royal Canadian Legion, Kimberley won $7 for her compositieti, Hot dog time is here, again at the school and the noon hour sales begin on Friday, December 5. The price of a hot dog will be 45 cents, the same as last year, which they pay that day. Pop will still be available for 35 cents, potato chips are 25 cents and milk is 25 cents. The hot dogs, snacks and drinks will be for sale every Friday. On Fridty, Decernber 19 the students will be dismissed at 12 noon for the Christmas break and parents are reminded not to send lunches because of the early dismissal.
