Township Council met
November r 17.
Approximately $10,000 of.
this money went toward.
pruchases for the new
township hall and another
$5,000 was for the road
superintendent .payroll.

present at the meeting
with a display of various
signs for the new hall,
Council decided to pur
chasesix signs at a cost
of $5.50 each:

request, from . S.

as per*questionaire.
, William and Mark,
Jenkins. were present at
the meeting to discuss the
possibility o zoning a
section of farm land' as
commercial. No motions
were recorded regarding
this.
Peter Imanse was
present to report on the
township well on Plan 28.
It was learned that five
cottages are being served
by the well at an annual
rate of $35 each.
Ron Lawrence made an
offer to purchase the
north half oft Block 'A'
Plan 25. Council passed a
motion to have the clerk
return Mr. Lawrence's
cheque stating that the
offer was unacceptable
but that the township
would sell the lot for
$11,500 with 10 per cent
down and the balance due
upon completion of the
deal, but in no case would
it be sooner than 30 days.
Building permits were
, issued to Wilf Rogers for
a house addition and a
garage addition and to
Five Seasons for a mobile
'home. A building permit
request from Richard
Steenstra for a barn
addition , was approved
but held for a certificate
of compliance.
Applications for
township snow plough
operator were received
from Tom Sinclair, Don
Lockwood and Calvin
Roberts. Council passed a
motion to offer Sinclair
the job at $6.50 per hour
for such time as the" road
superintendent deems
desirable and if this offer
is not accepted, that the
same offer be made to
Lockwood.
By-law 20, 1980, a by-
law to authorize the
borrowing of up to
$120,000 for current ex-
penditures was given
three readings and
passed.

Morning Prayer was
held in St. James
Anglican Church on
Sunday and Estelle Wise
read the lesson.
Rev. William Bennett
spoke on New Life for the
New Year and Dean
Aldwinkle and Edward
Deeves received the
offering. The flowers in
the church were given by
Jackie Adshead and
Drew Middleton, who
were united in marriage
at -St. James on Saturday.
The annual meeting of
the Brotherhood of
Anglican Churchmen was
held on Friday at St.
Paul's Anglican Church
in Clinton. Attending
from St. James were Ray
and Estelle Wise, John
• Deeves, Rev. and Mrs.
Bennett and Edward and
Blanche Deeves.
The Great Chapter
meeting at St. Paul's
Church in Wingham will
be held on Saturday,
November 28 from 10 am
to 5 pm. Lay delegates
and Wardens who are
attending are asked to
bring a box lunch.
On Tuesday, December
2 at St. Paul's in
Wingham, Archbishop J.
Watton, a retired Arch-
bishop from Moosonee
will speak. This event will
get underway at 8 pm and
everyone is welcome to
attend.
