One of the reasons for the popularity of the Seaforth Curling Club Bonspels is its reputation for good, home -cooked meals which hit the spot between games. Thisis an area in which the ladies' section excels as we are , fortunate to have some lady curlers who are also super cooks. The catering activities have therefore become in- dispensable to the club. All ladies who curl, either as Tuesday af- ternoon members or in the mixed league, are considered to be members of the ladies' section. All are expected .. a.....v.alu.nte ...their ser- vices at least once during the curling season to help at a bonspiel and to bake a pie, make soup or provide sandwiches. When everyone does their share it makes life much easier for the catering committee. The head of this year's committee is Irma Pryce and she has provided a list of all upcoming spiels so that the ladies can sign up to help on dates which work in well with their own schedule. Actually working at a bonspiel can be lots of fun, it gives the "afternoon" girls a chance to meet the working girls who curl in the evening. When the work is shared cheer- fully, the time goes by quickly and there's always the added bonus of watching some com petitive curling during the slack periods. All monies by the ladies' section goes toward the betterment of the club, either in im- provements to the kit- chen or other club fittings -- such as was done this year -- or as an outright donation to the club in general which helps to keep the fees at a reasonable rate for all members. The ladies have a fun day planned . for next Tuesday, December 2 with regular afternoon curling followed by a get- together, until the working girls have a chance to arrive. Fun curling will begin at 5 p,rn, with a pot luck dinner at 7:30 p.m. All ladies are invited, just look for the sheet and sign up for this event. It will help the committee organize the draw as well as providing details of the dinner arrangements. Incidentally, there still are two more weeks of regular curling left in the ladies pre -Christmas draw after this fun day.
