designed to handle
requirements for natural
gas which occur during
the peak demand period,
without service in-
terruptions that
customers had previously
experienced during the..
fall grain drying season.
Prior to construction,
the pipeline was the
subject of a full-scale
hearing before the
Ontario Energy Board,
which body requires
assurance that the
pipeline is needed, that
there is economical
justification for its in-
stallation, that
recognized construction
practices will be
followed, and also that all
the " ne.cessa-ry _en-
vironmental concerns
have been taken into
consideration.
The system was in-
stalled and operational in
time to handle the peak
demands of this fall
season.
Church, Elm vale last
Monday for Stewart
Ferguson who died
suddenly on October 16 at
his home.
. Born in Auburn on July
11, 1921, he was the only
son of the late Arthur and
Carrie Ferguson. He
attended U.S.S. No. 5
Hullett, Auburn _.._Con-
tinuation School , and
Goderich District
Collegiate • Institute. At
the end of Grade -13, he
entered into the service of
the Royal Bank for a brief
period, then joined the
Royal Canadian Navy for
combat duty in World
War II.
At the conclusion of
World War II he moved to
Elmvale where he
operated a feed ,and
lumber supply business
until he sold out about
three years ago due to ill
health.
He was Past Master of
Coronation Lodge, A.F.
and A.M. Elmvale, a
thirty-second degree
Mason and a member of
the Ramese Temple. He
was also active in the
work of St, John's United ;
Church.
He is survived by his
wife, the former
Margaret Webster; one
son . Fred of Fort'
Saskatchewan, Alberta;
two daughters, Mrs. Clair
(Jan) Whetham of
Aurora and Mrs. P.
Madalens (Mary) of
Elmvale; and one sister,
Mrs. Ray O'Neill
(Margaret Ferguson) of
Edmonton,

For Beaver Hats"'. This
trip was part of the study
of C'nadian history.
From the show the pupils
learned about the fur.
trade and the fur trading
companies.
All this information will
be very" useful in up-
coming years when they
study the fur trade. We

Cross country meet
Congratulations to all
members of the ' cross
country team for the
excellent showing in the
October 22 meet, Hullett
came in first overall out
of seven schools. In the
eight rates that were
held, Hullett took first
place in four of them. The
midget girls and boys
won their divisions and
the senior boys and girls
won their respective
divisions.

place in the midget
divisions and Robert
Wilts came in first in the
