The service on .unday
morning was conducted
by the Rev. Bob
McMullen of the Kippen-
Brucefield Pastoral
Charge. Meanwhile the
Rev. Alun Thomas, iSt,
Andrew's' Minister was
the anniversary speaker
for Mr. McMullen's
charge. .
An Old Time Gospel
Sing • was held at St.
Andrew's in the evening
Atilk
with Mr. Thomas back in
his own pulpit after a
holiday in Newfoundland,
for the service in which
the congregation joined
the choir to sing such
famil=iar gospel tunes as
"Bringing, :in the
Sheaves", "When the
Roll is Called Up Yon-
der" and "In The Sweet •
By and By".
These were in-
terspersed with numbers
presented by the entire
choir which opened the
service by singing
"Church in the Wild
wood'' and later con-
tributed the spirituals
"Walk in Jerusalem" and
"Steal Away".

Guides take on new faces
A really fun Hallowe'en
party was held in the
Anglican Parish Hall on
October -23 when all the
Guides and Guiders were
in perfect costume,
making it extremely
difficult for the judges to
decide the first.
Julie B'oyes was
'Grandma' and hardest to
recognize: Cathy Haw as'
'Mickey Mouse' was
chosen cutest and Mr.
Price the Meat Market
Man won the prize for the
strangest. She was Cori
Sinnamon. "Little Devil',
Cindy Scott was the
ugliest, • and the best
couple were the 'Asian
Girl' Tanya Gemeinhardt
and 'Fang' Julie Porter.
The newest girl to join
our company came as
'Pepi Longstocking' - she
is really Audrey Dollery.
The whole company is
delighted to have a third
Guider, Mrs. ----Debbie
Penhale. We welcomed
her in the disguise of a
cowgirl. The "mystery"
lady surprised us all
when we discovered she
was Mrs. Katherine Van
Lampoonery
By Bud Sturgeon
We dreaded the thought of having to do it, but it
was Hallowe'en again and Harry and 1 figured
that the plan had to be carried out. We had never
missed a single year, so it was with an air of
expectancy that we set out.
Moments before as we donned our 'winkie'
costumes, and marched to the door like
fluglemen, the moon paused behind a cloud
creating a perfect cover.
Carrying shrubs as commandos might, we
stealthily crept nearer to our destination. We
dared not say it aloud, but we bdth knew that we
were about. to come face to face with, the

were coming tonight. She always knew
everything.
Only a few more steps and we'd be standing on
the porch. I don't know what made us do it, but
we rang the bell and then dove into the bushes
beside the stoop to watch.
Momentarily, her overpowering but clumsy
form appeared outside, and spinning around she
cackled, "Come along out of there boys, I
haven't got all night for your foolishness".
Up on the porch in the glare of the outdoor
`- lamp, we mumbled something like, "Trick or
treat, ma'am".
"Aren't you boys a little old for this?" she
demanded.
Quickly dropping to our knees to appear
smaller, we rang out in unison, "Nb ma'am,
trick or treat".
Our outstretched hands were trembling as'she
finally relented, and dropped an unshelled
peanut into both our palms. Little beads of
perspiration trickled down our foreheads as she
handed us the book to sign. (Just to make sure
nobody came back for seconds). Scrawling down
fictitious names like Jim Nasium, we handed it
back and bid a hasty retreat into the darkness.
"And no more tom -foolery ....", she yelled, but
we were already on the street and running hard.
As the door slammed shut, we glanced at each
other and nodded approval before we started
laughing.
"That's eighteen years in a row that we've
pulled it off. I wonder what costs her more, the
peanuts, or the pens and paper to sign your name
with so you don't get two?"
"Who cares?"' said Harry as he popped the
peanut into his mouth, "Let's switch costumes
and go back".
We dreaded the thought of having to do it, but
