Ann Adams, with the help of Marj Dobson, presented the program on ceramics. They displayed a variety of ceramic articles td explained step-by-ste how each was done from green- Iuare to the finished pro 1uct. Then each girl chose a piece of green - ware and cleaned it so _that- it could.. be_ -fired-sand ready to glaze at the next meeting. Following the program, the business meeting resumed with correspondence from International discussed, and thank -you notes read from Lois and Fraser Fitzgerald for the baby spoon and yellow rose and from Rita Van Dyke for our help at the Rush Party held October 7, 1980. A thank you was read from the Hospital Auxiliary for' the educational tapes purchased with the donation from- the Sorority. Legacy membership forms were handed out and,will be collected at the next' meeting. Members then thanked their secret sister for cards and gifts received recently. Rekha Kalokhe was the lucky winner of the 25c draw and the UCW Thankoffering __The Autumn__ Thankoffering service of the Ontario Street and Wesley Willis UCW groups was held on October 19. Norma Grigg greeted the large audience and Ethel McPherson read the scripture and the meditation was given by Helen Trewartha and Daisy Holland. Special music was supplied by Barbara Hodgins who sang three Thanksgiving songs, accompanied with her guitar. Donna Wood in- troduced the guest Plans for the Morning Christmas Market , bazaar on November 1 are well Sea] l underway and ladies were asked for any" kind of donatioons for the booth. Barb• Hicks was in charge of the program and showed slides and gave a very interesting talk on the value and appreciation of the work of the Candy Stripers. She stressed how fortunate we are to have such willing young girls in the community to support the hospital. Afternoon Unit hear Rosemary Armstrong Leona Holland read the scripture. She bfiought. slides and a very interesting presentation of her work in connection with the Huron Doty Centre for the Hom ebound. The ladies appreciated her 'informative discussion and Daisy Holland presented her With a plant on behalf of the group. Greta Nediger took charge of the worship and Edna Stewart took charge of the business meeting and an invitation was received from the Burns UCW to attend their tea and bazaar at the Londesboro Hall on October 22. They also received an invitation to attend North Street Church in Goderich for their quilt and craft show on October 24 from 2 to 4 pm: 0 campaign on Early 'in November a representative of 'the Wardens of Huron and Perth Counties will raise a "double barred cross" in front of Court Houses In Goderich and Strat- ford. The raising will signify the opening of the 1980 Christmas Seal Cam- paign in Huron -Perth. The double barred cross has .been the symbol of the fight against TB and all lung disease for over 70 years. The ladies had just finished making the quilt and it was reported that the handcrafted item was sold to a lady in Meaford. The 50 members and one visitor present at the meeting all had a chance to see the ladies' needlework. George Rum -ball chaired the monthly meetingand Ed Johns gave, the ' secretary's report in the absence of Muriel Jones. Cecilia Edgar presented the treasurer's report. Mrs. Leila Johnson reported for the flower and card committee and. sympathy and get well cards had been sent to several members of the club.
