Milieu council okays park plans

- Hallett Council had no
objections to the
proposals for the Auburn
park and gave their go-
ahead for work at their
October 8 meeiffig.
Council granted per-
mission to Lions mem-
bers Bob Worsell and Jim
Schneider were present
at the council meeting
requesting that the
Auburn Lions Club call
the park around the
Auburn Hall, the Auburn
and District Lions CLub
Community Park.
In a second motion,
council noted that they
are not opposed to
Auburn Lions erecting a
fence around the park
and pouring a concrete
pad and erecting a name
sign.
In other business,
council agreed to turn
over. a request for
sweaters from the Clinton
Minor Hockey
Association to the
township recreation
committee.
Tenders were closed on
the purchase of a pick-up
truck for the township
and council agreed to
accept the application
from J.L. McCutcheon
Motors in Wingham for a
1980 Chevrolet half -ton
truck. The cost of the
vehicle will be $5,600, plus
sales tax on $392 and the
township's 1977 half -ton
truck will be traded in.

John Jewitt
runs for school board.
John Jewitt, 41, of RR 1,
Londesboro,, has an-
nounced he's seeking
election to . the Huron
County Board of.
Education.
Mr. Jewitt, who farms
100 acre's, and is a
foreman at ,Champion
Road Machinery,
Goderich, has served on
Hullett council for the
past 13 years, including
four years as reeve.
Mr. Jewitt j .4said in
addition he has been
active in the community,
and is a member of both
the. Masons and
Foresters. He has also
been an elder in Lon-
desboro United Church.
The candidate, married
to the former Barbara
Peckitt of Londesboro,
has five children. His two
youngest sons are in
Grade 1 and Grade 9 in
the Huron County school
system.
Mr. Jewitt said when
T (11-1 n 1-ipnriersory an-
nounced he wouldn't seek
re-election in the Nov. 10
election, the Hullett
councillor decided to'run
for office.
"I would like to service
the area if I could," he
said. Mr. Jewitt pointed
out it has been several
years since a ratepayer
from Hullett Township
sat on the school board.
He said in the last two
-municipal elections,
Hullett has been grouped
with Seaforth and
McKiHop townships.
Before that, they were
often. grouped with
Clinton ratepayers.
Mr. Jewitt said he has
already checked with his
employer, and has their
blessing in running for
office.
Mr. Jewitt said his
record will show "I had
real good attendance at
county council as well as
at local (Hullett) coun-
cil."

1. The Expropriations Act provides that,
(a) where an inquiry is reqUested, it shall be conducted by an inquiry officer
appointed by the Attorney General;
(b) the inquiry officer,
(i) shall give every party to the inquiry an opportunity to present evidence
and argument and to examine and cross-examine witnesses, either per-
sonally or by his counsel oragent, and
(ii) may recommend to the approving authority that a party to the inquiry
be paid a fixed amount for his costs of the inquiry not to exceed $200 and the
approving authority may in its discretion order the expropriating authority
to pay such costs -forthwith.
2. "owner" and "registered owner" are defined in the Act ib follows:
"owner" Includes a mortgagee, tenant, execution creditor, a person entitled
to a limited estate or interest in land, a committee of the estate of a mentally
Incompetent person or of a person incapable of managing his affairs, and a
guardian, executor, administrator or trustee in whom land is vested;
"registered owner" means an owner of land whose interest in the land is
defined and whose name is specified in an instrument in the proper registry,
land titles or sheriff's office, and includes a person shown as a tenant of land
on the last revised assessment roll.
3. The expropriating authority, each owner who notifies the approving
authority that he desires a hearing in respect of the lands intended to be
expropriated and any owner added as a party by the inquiry officer are
parties to the inquiry.
