The bride is the daughter of Jack and :Olive Rean of Goderich and the groom is the son of Walter and Beatrice Dowell of Goderich. Rev. Woods conducted the double ring ceremony and Mrs. Snyder played traditional wedding music on the organ,_. For the occasion the bride wore a pale blue polyester crepe gown and a coat of multi -colored flowers. She carried a bouquet of deep mauve ' silk roses and tiny pick flowers, tied with a pale • blue ribbon. Andrew Calder of Clinton was the groomsman and Lise Gunby of Toronto, a friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. She wore a blue-green polyester dress and cape that featured shoe -string straps. She carried a small bouquet of white silk and pink flowers, tied with a pale pink ribbon. All the wedding flowers were arranged by the bride's niece Mrs. Kittie MacGregor of Lon- desboro. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pickard of Clinton and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mahon of South Por- cupine. Rev. Norman Pick conducted the double ring ceremony and Brenda Galachiuk sang special wedding music to the accompaniment of Mrs. Doris McKinley at the organ. Dana Livingstone of Goderich was the matron of honor and the bride as also attended by Su''.n Luczinski of Sault Ste, , Marie, Angela Beac,m of Blyth,•Kathy Mahbn of South Por- cupine and flowergirl Laura Stephenson of Cam bridge. Epsilon Beta, Chapters of Beta Sigma Phi were awakened for the sorority's annual; sur- group • prise breakfast. A nostalgia theme was With Some grumbling' used during the evening and a great deal of laughter, 16 women finally assembled at Rose Cook's for a delicious meal. After a melon fruit cup, everyone enjoyed ham, poached egg and .asparagus on home-made muffins, topped with cheese sauce. Blueberry muffins With assorted jams completed the menu (aside from lots of tea and coffee). After a chance to dTScTtss some of the following events, members were chauf- fered home around. 10 a.m. to begin their day. On Tuesday, October 7th the Zeta Omega and Xi Epsilon Beta chapters of Beta Sigma Phi held a rush party at the home of Mary Marsh. Seven guests and 15 members were present for a social evening which was co- ordinated by Rita Van Dyke, vice-president of Zeta Omega chapter. To introduce members and guests, Rita handed everyone an address book, belonging to • someone else, Each 'book was presented to its owner in exchange for some background in* formation, • which was later rad to the whole to mark the 50th an- niversary of Beta Sigma Phi. Ann ,Adams displayed 16 "antique" itemsfor people to identify, ranging from a butter ,press_ to a hydro' pole insulator. Mary Marsh was most suc- cessful at this and received a decorative glass jar for her skill. Everyone was asked to unscramble a list of words dealing with -fashions}- from—the past - (spats, for example), The prize for this was a lovely crocheted doily with a yellow rose in the centre (a symbol of Beta Sigma Phi), which went to Marilyn Parr. Two Similar doilies were (riven sorority to Liz Warren and Joanne Poeiman, es door prizes, Three Xi Epsilon Beta. members .did an excellent job of presenting the history of Beta Sigma Phi, using period eostuarnes - Audrey Kemp (in a lovely black dress add hat from, the 1930's); Mar,' Dobson (as a bobby- soxer from the 1950's) and Vivienne Roy (in present day clothes) . The guests were en- couraged to browse through the sorority scrapbook and memorabilia, for a glimpse of sorority life. They were also invited to attend . the next regular meeting of Zeta Omega chapter, to be held on I October' 14th at Tan Wigelsworth's. Everyone enjoyed a lunch, featuring foods from old-fashioned recipes, including homemade bread, followed by conversation. Gremlins at work The gremlins were out last week and their work was apparent in the wedding account for Mr. and Mrs. Ron Blanchard. The article should have stated that the couple were married on Sep - Huron ISMS meet for rally BY ELEANOR BRADNOCK The • Huron Presbyterial Women's Missionary Society held its fall rally in Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall last Wednesday afternoon. The president, Mrs. Robert McAllister of R.R.2 Auburn, took charge of the program with Mrs. Dorothy Taylor of Hensall as pianist. The call to worship was, "A Thought for the Day on Prayer". a Mrs. Harvey Hyde welcomed everyone. The Reverend Kenneth Knight, minister of Carmel Church, led in the devotions basing his message on mission work begun by Christ. A piano duet, "Work for the dight - is Coming" with variations was played by Mrs. Blanche Dougall and Mrs. Edith Bell. Mrs. Dougall gave a report of the Ottawa Conference for Presbyterian Women which she had attended this summer. After the roll call of the Auxiliaries, the treasurer, Mrs. G. G. MacEwan of Goderich, gave the financial statement. The minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Eleanor B-radnock, Auburn. Plans were made to hold the annual meeting in Seaforth Presbyterian Church on January 21 Mrs. F. Salter of Goderich set up the Presbyterial book display. Mrs. Clayton Edward of Goderich introduced the guest speaker, Miss Lynne Longmuir of Hanover. She had recently been appointed area educational con- sultant and told about her mission and the work to be done in the, five Presbyterials which she has in her area. She urged all to be a support to leaders of children's. groups and to always seek out creative ways to - serve better. The offering was received by Mrs. Gloria Mousseau and Mrs. Eleanor Thomson of Hensall and dedicated with prayer by Mrs. Hyde. Mrs. Don Croft of Goderich e.xtended courtesies . and Mr. Knight closed with prayer. Mrs. Carl Remus of Walkerton, president of Hamilton and London Synodical, brought greetings during the lunch hour. tember 13 in Seaforth.
