Previously, Councillor PaulN'eilauds had stated that he would, run- for the reeve's post ,upon Knight's. retirement, . Knight held the positi0rt. for some time and was never challenged. . Reports indicate that a' former reeve, Minnie Noakes, may attempt a comeback and would run for a council post. - In his announcement this week, Klungel said he would like to .,see • Hensall embark on a project to build housing facilities for senior citizens, similar to the geared -to -income units in Zurich and Exeter. He suggested that people who have lived in Hensall for most of their lives should be able to stay in the community in their senior years and not have to move elsevvhere. Klungel, who has served four years on council, also indicated he would like to see Hensall underta. e a community betterment program of some' t pe. "It (the village) just doesn't look as pretty as it did 15 years ago," he commented. While agreeing that. private landowners had to accept the major challenge in that regard, he said that if the council gives them some in- centive it would pay dividends. The former owner of the Queensway Nursing Home suggested he would also like to see .the businessmen organize a chamber of commerce or some similar organization to . improve their. individual status, noting that it is becoming rough for small businessmen to maintain their position in view of the increased com- petition from major shopping facilities in the area.
