Youmatoff. Brigadier
Morgan Smith and. Mr.
Pitts read the lesson.
Mr. Townshend gave
the sermon and spoke
about his Bayfield

Middleton's St. James
Church and many tither
memories from the past.
Mr. Baker and Mr.
DuBoulay received ,;the
offering, which will be
used to assist mission
work.. • Following the
service, a coffee hour was
held.
ACW meet
The St. James Anglican
Church Women(ACW)
held their october
meeting at: the rectory in
Bayfield last Thursday,
with Blanche Deeves in
charge.
Rev. Bennett opened
the meeting by giving a
prayer for Canon Paull
which asked for his
recovery and good health
again.
Vera Miller presented a
reading on Thanksgiving.
Mrs.- Deeves read the
invocation and Mrs. Fred
Middleton gave the
scripture reading
In the business portion
of the' meeting, Shirley
Storey gave the
secretary's report and
Mrs. Miller gave the
financial statement. Mrs.
Deeves reported for
cards andthank you
notes and Mrs. Miller
read the correspondence.
Jean Bennett reported
on the fall deanery
meeting and the penny
captains gave their
reports with Mrs. Miller's
team having collected the
most coppers. Lois Wise's
Iosing team now must
treat the winners to a
surprise dinner.
Rev, Bennett read a"
poem written by his
neighbor C.F. Curtis of
Bayfield and Mrs. Deeves
introduced Rev. D.S.
Pitts as the guest
speaker. lie spoke on his
early days in • Bayfield
with his parents, brother
and sister and reminisced
about the happy and sad
moments of his
childhood.
Mrs. Middleton
thanked Mr. Pitts for his
interesting talk and lunch
was served by the
hostess, assisted by
Estelle Wise, with Mrs.
Middleton pouring tea.
Birthday party
On Friday evening,
October -10, some 14
friends and old neighbors
enjoyed an evening at the
home of Alvin and
Delores Dutot to
celebrate Charlie
Cooper's 80th birthday.
Everyone was happy to
visit with Mr. Couper,
who lives in Midland and
his daughter Shirley
Cooper. who lived in
Bermuda for many years
before returning to her
father's home.
Cards and lunch,
served by Mrs. Dutot and
Muriel Grigg, were in-
cluded in the evening
along with a special
birthday cake.
Charlie thanked
everyone for their cards
and gifts and for at-
tending his 80th birthday
celebration.
People report
While visiting in the
area, Charlie Cooper was
a guest of Alvin and
Delores Dutot while his
daughter Shirley stayed
with,Muriel Grigg in
Clintn. The Coopers also
visited with many friends
and relatives in the area.
The St. James
congregation extends get
well wishes to Canon
Paull, who is a patient ii
Clinton hospital.. Get well
wishes also go out to Mrs.
Rowden, who is now
staying with her daughter
Mrs. Edward Wise.
Sympathy is extended
to Alvin Dutot on the loss
of his aunt, Mrs. Maude
Baird of Stanley Town-
ship.
