entertainment and lunch
and everyone 60 years of
age or over is welcome to

Bruce Norman. The
ladies of the Holmesville
Church served lunch to
the family and friends of
the late Mr. Norman.
Alvin and Barb Betties
spent Thanksgiving in
Dayton, Ohio and Cin-
cinnati as _Auests of
Roland and Ann Penny.
Thanksgiving dinner
guests with Ross and
Betty Feagan were Mr.
and Mrs, James Durnin
and Mr. and Mrs. Brian
Durnin, Mr. Archie Stutt
and Eenid Malone, all of
London. Also stopping by
to visit were Ivan and
Helen Hoggart as well as
Don and Isobel Harris.
Thanksgiving, Sunday
The Hohnesville United
Church was decorated
with autumn vegetables,
•fruits -and pretty flowers
for the Thanksgiving •
Sunday service and the
girls' choir sang a special
number.
Rev. Oestreicher spoke
to the children about
-
Thanksgiving and
reminded them to
remember the word
'giving.'
Gerry Ginn and
Murray Lobb received_
the offering and in his
sermon Mr. Oestreicher I
told the parable of the 10
lepers and how only one
returned to give thanks.
• WI meet
The Goderich Township
Wornens Institute (WI)
met in, : Holmesville on
October 13 and Mrs.
Sarah Storey opened the
meeting with some piano
selections.
President Millie
Dempsey was in charge
of the meeting and roll
call was answered' wjih
.recollection about school --
fairs and farm forums.
WI members planned
to go to to Huronview on
the afternoon of October
20 and it was decided to
postpone their October
variety show until March.
An invitation was
received to attend the
Quilt and Craft Show at
Goderich's North Street
United Church on
October 24. The group
was also invited to
Auburn on November 18
for a luncheon and a card
party. The area- con-
vention will be held in the
St. Marys' Community
Centre on October,27 and
28.
Hazel McCreath
reported on the Huron
County WI Rally held in
the Gorr ie United Church
on October 6. The ladies
were reminded that two
card parties are planned
for November 13 and the
17th
For the program, Mrs.
Jean Lobb read a poem
and spoke on farm
_forums. She then in-
troduced Mrs. Marian
Biggins, a former
teacher, who spoke on the
school fairs that used to
be held at Porter's Hill
and Holmesville. She
showed pictures and had
a 1920 prize list.
Mrs. Dempsey thanked
Mrs. Biggins for her
informative talk and
presented her with a gift
on behalf of the WI. For
the Christmas meeting,
the group hopes to have
Marilyn Cox speak about
her work in the Carib-
bean.
