visited the Shaw Festival

with her .great-niece,
Mary Grigg. Other
vacation time was also
spent with friends, M.

Sundridge and touring
Ottawa, Montreal. and
Quebec City. This was
Mrs, Matthewson's` third
visit to Canada• and she
maintains. that 'hayfield
is her favorite spot..

last weekend, where they
stayed with Barb's

Members of the
Bayfield Lioness `Twin
Club" in Cass City,
Michigan paid a return
visit to the local club last
Monday evening. A large
"Welcome Cass City"
sign greeted the 14
Michigan ladies as they
entered the village. The
Bayfield Lioness had
earlier visited their Twin
Club- - i -_.May and the
,
Statesiders were
returning the favour.
This was the first visit
by the Cass City Club and'
they were impressed with
the friendliness shown by
our Bayfield people.
One of their members,
Glenda Wilson, was
presented' with the
``Dollhouse" that she had
won in a Lioness raffle
here in the summer.
The Cass City ladies
were treated 'to a social
hour at the Community
Centre, dinner at the
Little Inn and were
spending the night in the
village. Cass City . lies
directly across the lake
from us, inland on a line
between Port Huron and
Bay City.
This year's executive of
the Bayfield Lioness is as
follows: pesident,
Marilyn Haw; vice-
president, Carol
Penhale; second vice-
president, Elaine
Brandon; treasurer,
Diane . Argyle; and
secretary Joan Merner.
Everyone is reminded
of the Hallowe'en dance
coming up on October 25,
1980. The ' band is 'By
Special Appointment' and
prizes will be awarded for
the best costumes.

Fire ravages two cottages
A cottage, south of
Bayfield at Homestead
Heights, was destroyed
by fire 'early Saturday
evening.
Bayfield Fire
Department responded
after a call from Zurich
Fire Chief, Leo
Iyl(eidinger, whose
department was already
on the scene, but found
they needed more water
and pumping capability.
Bayfield Fire
Department Captain,
Walter Turner, reported
that on their arrival, one
cottage was already
burned to the ground and
another was in flames.
The Bayfield Detachment
poured water on yet a
third cottage to save it
' from a similar fate
The firemen were kept
busy fighting the fire for
two and one half hours,
during which time
Bayfield fireman Don
Mctlwain was treated for
minor smoke- inhalation
by an ambulance crew
standing by at thescene.
The cottagwhich
burned to the ground was
owned by Gord and
Eileen -Schneider, Bor-
nholm, while the one
heavily damaged, was
owned by the Schneider
family froth. Monkton.
Exact cause of the blaze
was not yet been deter-
mined.
New season /or euchre players
The Bayfield Euchre
Club began their new
season on October 1st,

Municipal Building. A
good turnout provided
