Willena Brown of the Varna United Church and the Teen Tones frox. Goderich, their director Mrs. Irla Stewart and accompanist Beth. Wark. The" church Was beautifully decorated with autumn flowers and __Rev. Oestreicher spoke to the childrenabout the anniversary, which - is birthday time and a happy time. He showed them the sign of the fish. on hisvestment., and explained that it is a very important' symbol of the church. The ushers Gerry Ginn, Don Harris, Alvin Betties and Murray Lobb received the offering. In her anniversary message, Rev. Brown likened the living church to a tree with many rqots. She stressed, "This church has a fine heritage to enjoy." T e minister an peop a took part in th Lite y of Rededication, for a renovation of the lower level of the church and following the service a coffeehour was enjoyed by the congregation. The UCW group are reminded that their meeting will be held on -October 14 and are asked to turn in their pennies and articles for the bale, Correction A correction in last week's baseball news should have read, "Thanks to the umpire and Bill Dykstra for keeping the score at the games." Enterprising Seniors The Goderich "Town- ship's Enterprising Seniors group met on October 2 with a good turn out and the president, Mrs. Jean Lobb, chaired the meeting. She brought along a large puff ball with a face made on it and she explained that this was her extra hehd. Mrs. Cudmore read the minutes of the- previous meeting and the financial report was given by Fran Powell. Mrs. Deeves presented the card report , and suggested that a memorial by established. This was put into a motion by Marion Powell. The group agreed to pay the rent of the hall for a year and several bus trips were discussed. Mrs. Cudmore led in the roll call and Mrs. Perdue gave a report on the quilt tickets and noted that there are still some available -from members. Mr. and Mts. Barrie Walter will be in' charge of the entertainment for the next meeting. After the business meeting,-- Fv'erett Mcllwain introduced his daughter and, son-in-law Pat and Bill Rivett, who showed films on their trips to the Barbados and Jamaica as well as their own home and , Irrounding grounds. Everyone enjoyed the presentation and Mrs. Cudmore thanked the Rivetts for showingtheir slide§. Afterwards, a game of bowling for surprise was played and a sing song was held while Mrs. Mcllwain prepared the lunch, assisted by Mrs. Iona Blake. People and places The Goderich Township WI will meet on October 31 at 8 pm in the 1 Holmesville School. Alice Porter and Jean Lobb will convene the meeting and Mrs. Biggins is the guest speaker. She will talk on school fair and the farm forum and all ladies are invited to bring a friend and join in the evening. Ray and Estelle Wise were recent visitors with their daughter Pat and son-in-law Bob Hodgins in Brampton.
