The 120th anniversary
of Chiselhurst United
Church was held on
Sunday. 'Rev. Stanley
McDonald conducted' the
service with Robert
McMullen of the Kippen-
Brucefieid charge
delivering an inspiring
message on "The
Church...Is". A male
quartette including Mr.
Skinner, Mr. Heywood,
Mr. Blair and Mr. Gill
accompanied by Mrs. D.
Gill at the piano sang
several numbers .and a
fellowship hour followed
the service.

speaking on The Gift of
Time,
The Sacrament of the,
Lord's Supper will be
celebrated this Sunday at
the regular hour of
worship. ' Mrs. Robert

commenced at 10:00 a.m.
with a good attendance.

James McDougall dies

of Hensall died at South
Huron Hospital, Exeter
on September 28 in his
80th year:
He was born in Hibbert
Township in 1901, and
was the son of the late
John McDougall and
Mary Adeline McNicol.
Surviving are several
nieces and nephews in-
cluding Mrs. Wilmer
(Grace)Adkins, Exeter;
Mrs. Don (Elaine)
Harburn, Woodstock;
Jack Upshall, tippen;
Robert Upshall, London;
Dougal and Donald
Upshall; Kip pn.. • •
He was predeceased by
a sister Mrs. Mary
Upshall.
Funeral services were
held at ' the Bonthron
Funer-.aLHorne in Hensall
on September 30 with
Rev. G. Mills officiating,
Interment followed in
Staffa Cemetery.

Dining in Varna

The ladies of Varna
United Church served a
bountiful turkey supper
to about 300 people on
Wednesday evening.
Next Sunday is
Worldwide---.Comreunion
Sunday. It is hoped that
many members of Varna
church will come and
take part in this special
service.
The sympathy of the
community is expressed
to the McKinley family in
the passing of Elgin
McKinley last Friday..
Bob Taylor received
word last week of the
death of Mrs-. Floyd
Schell, the former Alice
Austin, in Seminole,
Florida, on Thursday.
Mrs. Schell resided at one
time in Varna, in the
house recently vacated
by the Whittakers.
Rev. Alex Taylor has
been in hospital again
with heart trouble. The
doctors don't think he
suffered any further
damage to 'hsieart-this- -
time.
Several Stanley
Township ball teams
have been winners in the
league play-offs recently,
including the boys in the
Squirt League and the
girls in pee " wee and
midget. In best two out of
three • games, the girl
midgets, coached by Bill
MCGre,gor and Janet
Graham, defeated
Goderich' Township. The
Stanloy . ,A's, coached by
Don Taylor and Ivan
McClymont, defeated the
Stanley B's.
The Stanley pee wee 'A' girls defeated the Stanley
'B' for the league championship last week. Back

NOTES:
1. The Expropriations Act provides that,
(a) where an inquiry is requested, It shall be conducted by an inquiry officer
appointed by the Attorney General;
(b) the inquiry officer,
(i) shall give every party to the inquiry an opportunity to present evidence
and argument and to examine and cross-examine witnesses, either per-
sonally or by his counsel or agent, and
(ii) may recommend to the approving authority that a party to the inquiry
be paid a fixed amount for his costs of the inquiry not to exceed $200 and the
approving authoritymay in its discretion order the expropriating authority
to pay such costs forthwith.
2. "owner" and "registered owner" are defined in the Act as follows:
"owner" includes a mortgagee, tenant, execution creditor, a person entitled
to a limited estate or interest in land, a committee of the estate of a mentally
- incompetent person or of a person incapable of managing his affairs, and a
guardian, executor, administrator or trustee in whom land is vested;
r:"registered owner" means an owner of land whose interest in the land is
defined and whose name is specified in an instrument in the proper registry,
land titles or sheriff's office, and includes a person shown as a tenant of land
on the last revised assessment roll.
3. The expropriating authority, each owner who notifies the approving
authority that he desires a hearing in respect of the lands intended to be
expropriated- and any -owner added as a . party by the inquiry officer are
parties to the inquiry.
