The Tweentes were then put into groups to work on their Tweenie Book. Tawny Owl worked with the girls going for their Golden Bar and one Guide,. Shelley Bonte- ' Gelok, is working on her Golden Hand. Guides Last week's • Guide meeting began with the g iris' discussing mar- ching in the Sunday School 200th birthday on Oct. 5. The Guides are presently selling 1981 calendars with proceeds going to Guides of Canada. Senior patrol leaders taught the Tenderfeet some of their regulations for their enrolment and Guider June Jeacock took a group to review the requirements for their badge for the Adventure Challenge. Guider 1Veryl Thomas . studied with some of the girls for their Citizen Badge, The Guides also decided to buy bricks for the new headquarters in London, England. The cost of one 'brick is. 10 cents. There was a 100 percent turnout on Sunday, September 28 for the hike to 'Conservation Area. The boys used the fitness trail to its full extent. Some of the girls presented a skit from their Bridge Book. These girls meet at the Vanastra Christian Church from 7-9 p.m. and any girls 12-15 years of age are welcome. Lions Club There will be a dinner meeting on Wednesday, October 1 at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Centre when the speaker will be Warren Wicks - District Governor. The Vanastra & District Lioness Club will be catering the function. Kalprie Kounters Last Monday evening, the Kalorie Kounters enjoyed a make-up party given by Nancy, Carrier AYLMER after thelr regular weigh- in. Nancy Thiebeault was. selected to apply her own make-up with the guidance of the demonstrator. Meetingsare held every Monday from 7-9 p.m. . at the Recreation. Centre. Curling Club Don't forget to join in the fun on Saturday evening at 9 p.m. at the Vanastra Recreation Centre for the dance to raise funds for the curling Club renovations. Tickets .are available from any chub member or from ,the Vanastra Factory Outlet or at the door, Fees for the 1980-81 season are men $70; ladies $60; couples $125 and students $25. A two day couple communication in- structor workshop held at the Interfaith Pastoral Counselling Centre at Cambridge Friday and Saturday was attended by Peter Mantel, minister of the Vanastra Church, who specializes in the area of marriage and family counselling. He is now ,a qualified instructor to teach groups this program. Mr. Mantel is presently in his second year in- ternship at the Interfaith Centre and will be completing his training --program—by -by the - end- of -- June 1981. Three couples from the community, Angus and Rose Hummel, June and Tony Jeacock and Evelyn and Peter Mantel at- tended a commissioning service at the Stratford Christian Reformed CLINTON NEWS.RECCRP THURSDAY' 0 Church on Sunday evening. Revs Mantel spoke on, behalf of the Vanastra people and asked the Stratford congregation to "walk along with us". Rev. Adrian Dieleman of the Blyth C,R.C. spoke on ,behalf of class's and the classical home mission committee of classic Huron of the C.R.C. Letter to the correspondent Why would some Vanastra citizen or a citizen from any place want to deface the new Vanastra Centre by breaking the letters on the building the same night it opened. Sub- sequently, each day more letters seem to be torn right off! Men's fitness began ° last Monday and everyone was relatively tuckered after the first class. There is plenty of room in the class for more. All the fall classes in swimming and -exercises begin thhe� week, Sept. 22- 25th so,the centre is quite . busy. Most classes are full but some still have vacancies. PUblle School, An , Friday, October 3rd,the firstt of � ih. t swimming sessions will take place 'at the Vanastra Recreation Centre, All children from grades one through six are included in this physical education ac- tivity. Each child will have 20 minutes in the pool each week. By doing this we have reduced the cost to $2 per child. A trampoline will be arriving at our school very soon thanks to the co-operation of the Wingham Public School. Huron County Library books have arrived and are on display in our new multi-purpose room. Children will be making book selections this week. Have you seen our new sand boxes? The Vanastra Public School pupils have purchased materials to build sand boxes in various locations around the kchool. These new additions have also. made our playground safer.
