"Somebody`s Praying For Yo11" was theanthem sung, by the Huronview Choir at the Sunday morning service. Doctor Toll's Band from Seaforth played on the front lawn Sunday af- ternoon for the residents enjoyment. The Fall programs started off Monday af- ternoon when Marie Flynn, Lorne Lawson and Stanley Hillen along with Jim Ruddock provided some- toe -tapping- Old Tyme Music. Tuesday morning, Mr. Archibald came to do woodworking with the residents. Mary Ross, Polly W iiwse, Josephine Cunningham, Margaret Murray, Margaret Mitchell, Grace Peck, Ella Elder, Elsie Hen- derson and Phyllis Connell helped the Clinton Women's Institute celebrate their 75th anniversary at the Christian Reform Church hall. The .Horticulture Society brought beautiful corsages and bouquets of fresh flowers to Huronview _ Tuesday evening. Mrs. Ruth Bond was the MC for the evening program and entertainment consisted of George, Barry and. Bonnie Turner singing and playing their ukuleles, The Clinton Clickers, Sheri. Presz- cator, Wendy Watson, and. Sheila Cook did oame`tap dancing. A guitar solo by Mike Powell, and duets by Kris and Kathy. MacDonald. Special Care Men took a van ride to Goderich on Tliiitsday afternoon. The men enjoyed the ride around Goderich. The Anglicans held their communion on Tuesday afternoon and there was a good turnout of members. Caravan Clothes will be coming to Huronview again October 7th, and. all residents will have the opportunity to ge down to the auditorium that day and do their shopping. Sympathy is expressed -to the fancily of Ruth Mutch. Uuronyiew would like to welcome Ernest Appleton f rozu Exeter, VinaBartiiff from Clinton, Lambert Baasjis from Clinton and Margaret Dundas from Seaforth. The Craft room was a busy place on Friday morning with Jennie Finlay, Frank Crich? Jean Wilson, Ada Craddock, Bill Marsh making cupcakes. All the residents in the home will get a chance to taste these at the birthday party next Wednesday. $1;000 jackpot winner ShirleySmith came away a happy winner from the Fish and Garne Club's September 14 bingo with a $100 prize in a jackpot round and won $10 in another regular game. Helen Loghlaine won a special - game valued at $36 and a second' share - the -wealth was on by Sucer W agues of Vanastra. The third. special game of the night was split between Mrs. E. Lee and Mrs. D. Bailey, each winning $16. Regular $10 game winners included Debbie Kinettes plan busy schedule Donations, fund raising campaigns and social activites were dicussed by the Clinton Kinette group when they held their first meeting for the fall season on September 9. President Donna Gibbings welcomed guests Mary Ann Cald- well, Linda Bosman and Evelyn Feeney to the meeting and secretary' Martha Craig read the miautes and correspondence which included a letter from the group's foster child Phyllis. She sent drawings of her home in Kenya and showed the out -buildings, gardens and animals. She is also hoping that everyone in the Kinette group and come and visit her someday. Treasurer Sue Vodden reported that over the summer a cassette player and two air mattresses were donated to the Clinton Public Hospital. Mary Jean Beattie asked for volunteers to work at the 'Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic which" is to be held on October 7 at the high school. Service committee chairwoman Bette Dalzell reported that a babysitter course is being organized and a movie night for children will be held. To celebrate the club's 28th anniversary, Bev Riley, head of the social committee, suggested that tickets be purchased to see the Della Reese benefit concert in London on October 14. In November the social committee has planned an old-fashioned box social and crokinole party. Registrar Linda Reid took the attendance and Linda Bosman was the lucky winner of the draw. Marie Jefferson has been appointed the zone co-ordinato_ r by Deputy Govenor Bob Reynolds for the 1980-1981 term. Attendance and Maple Leaf pins were presented by the the president Mrs Gibbings and it was decided that seven members of the club would travel to Exeter to attend. aa. ,executive seminar on September 17. Snyder- Studiophoto Mr. and Mrs. Sam Russo Jr. Wed in Clinton St. Paul's Anglican Church in Clinton was ' decorated with flower filled_ . candelabrum for the July 26 wedding of Sam Russo Jr. 'and Kelly Adshead. The groom is the son of Sam ,and Jenny Russo of Vanastra and the bride is the daughter of Derek and Teresa Adshead of Clinton. Rev. George 'Youmatoff led in the exchange of wedding vows and special music was provided by organist Dirk Vander Werf 'and soloist Donna Russo. The bride was dressed for the wedding in a traditional gown. The floor -length dress featured a lace bodice which went into a lace edged high neckline and lace inset, trimmed in pearls. The full skirted gown also featured three- quarter length sheer, sleeves edged in lace and the waist length train and veil were trimmed in the same Iace, tr Homebound clients see Jays On Sunday, September 7, 35 clients and volun- teers from the Huron Day Centre far the Homebound travelled to Toronto to watch a Blue Jay double-header. Our one claim to fame in the baseball world, .Sandy Fremiin (who plays for the Milverton Suns) and who is part- time volunteer co- ordinator at the Day Centre, missed her big chance by dropping a foul ball that was hit into her "hands". We hoped that she would get a second chance during the second game against The Chicago White Sox, but the Jays won both games with neither team giving up another ball in our direction. The weather (along with many people and a Blue Jay win) co- operated to make this day perfect for our fans, who ranged in age from 20 to 80. We left the Day Centre at 9 am and returned, a tired but happy group about 9:30 pm. The free tickets were It's 'a fact Dreamer's Rock is a tall quartzite rock near Little Current, Manitoulin Island. The bridesmaids included Jackie Adshead of Clinton, Kirsten Harrett of Clinton, Jenny Russo a sister of the groom, from Kitchener and Laura Froats of London, All the girls wore capped sleaves, dusty rose colored gowns. They carried bouquets of silk flowers and wore similar flowers in their hair. Ginner Nietch from Kitchener was the bestman and guests were ushered into the church by Peter Russo of Kit- chener, • Perry . Jutzi of Kitchener, Mike Russo of Clinton and Manfred Nietch of.Ktichener. Following the wedding, a reception was held at the Clinton Legion and the hall was ' decorated with candles and streamers. The former Jean Lindsay was born in Uullett Township and had lived in Sombra for. the past 54 years, There she was anpctivemeznber of the Sombra United Church where she was an elder, a UCW member and assistant organist, Mrs, Stoneman was also active in the com- munity and was a member and secretary of the Edith Cavell Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She also taught in elementary schools. in Sombra for many years. Mrs. Stoneman was predeceased by . her husbands, Frank Rath - burn who died in 1964 and her second husband Bruce Stoneman who died in 1969. She is survived by one sister Mrs. Bessie (George) Falconer of Clinton and three nieces Mrs. Margaret (Harry) Torrance of RR 2, Bayfield, Mrs. Kathryn (Jim) Keys of - RR 1, Varna and Mrs. Elizabeth (Jim) Bell of Exeter. One nephew, Bill Falconer of Clinton also survives. The Sombra Easterb Star chapter held a memorial service on September 15 and funeral services were held at the Nicholls Funeral Horne in Wallaceburg on Sep- tember 16 with Rev. D'). -)L Stewart officiating. Interment followed at the Riverside Cemetery in Sombra. The pallbearers were Jilt Keys of RR 1, Varna, Bill Falconer of Clinton, Marry Torrance of RR 2, Bayfield, Dave Hillier of Toronto, Jina Bell of Exeter, all nephews Qt Mrs. Stoneman's and Roy Waites.of Staples. The flower bearers were great nephews Bill Carnochan of Oakwood, Ron Keys of Varna, Dave Bell.of Exeter and great niece Brenda Bell, also of Exeter. .Myrtle Irene Busby A Hullett Township native, Myrtle Irene Busby, died in Clinton hospital on September 11, She was 82 years old. Mrs. Busby was born in Hullett Township on May 21,1898 to Robert Lawson. and 'the' former Alvina Johns. Mrs. Busby lived in the Clinton area until moving to Toronto. There she met her husband John: Edward Busby and, they were married in the Londesboro United Church on November 8, 1928.
