again be heading the
Golden Radars senior
citizens club for the year.
He held the position' last
year.
At their first meeting of
the season on September
3 the club chose their new
slate of officers for the
1980,-81 term. Mary

About 50 senior citizens
attended the "meeting and,
enjoyed a pot luck sup-
per. Mr. Rumball chaired
the business portion of
the meeting and annual
reports were given.
Mrs. Johnston reported
that during the year, she
sent out 25 carnations, 12

donations were sent to the
Clinton hospital and to
,the heart fund in memory

Mr. Johns and his wife
Jean represented the
Radars at the. United
Senior Citizens of Ontario
(USCO) convention in
Kingston in August. Mr.
Johns thanked the ,club
for the opportunity of
attending the three-day
event and gave a. report
on the work of the con-
vention.

roll call, members paid
their membership fees of
$1 and $1 each as star

Happy Gang's sad
WINGHAM - The
Wingham senior citizens'
club, the Happy Gang,
could pass out of
existence next year
unless ways can be found
to . boost its sagging
membership and pass the
leadership into' younger
hands.
The group's active
membership has slumped
from about 100 to fewer
than 30 and the executive
has remained virtually
unchanged in years. The'
people in the group don't
want to give it p,

Clinton death
Ruth Salome Mutch
A Dashwood native and
Clinton resident, Ruth
Salome Mutch, died in
Clinton Public Hospital
on September 2. Mrs.
Mutch, a Huronview
resident, was 64 years
old.
Mrs. Mutch was born in
Dashwood on March 11,
1916 to David Tiernan and
the former Fanny Snell..
Sfie worked in the office
of the Metropolitan store
in London and in 1942,
was married to Kelso
(Cal) Streets in Dash-
wood. He predeceased
her in 1959. She later
married William James
"Mutch in Clinton in 1972
and he predeceased her
in 1979.
While living;in' Clinton,
Mrs. 1Vlutch was a
member of the St.
Andrew's Presbyterian
Church. •
Along with her
husbands, Mrs. Mutch
was ,predeceased by .a
brother Dr. Lorne S.
Tieman. She is survived
by a sister Mrs_. Harry
(Anne) Cook of "Guelph
and a brother Mervyn of
Dashwood.
Funeral services. were
held on September 5 at
the Ball Funeral Home in
Clinton. Interment
followed in the ,Clinton
Cemetery.
The pallbearers were
Lorne Brown, Doug
Macaulay, Oscar
Priestap and George
Rumball, all of Clinton,
Robert Dalrymple of
Brucefield and John
Deeves of RR 3, Clinton._
50 years
for Sorority
13eginning Day for the
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority
was held on Tuesday,
September 2nd, at the
home of Jennifer
Anderson in Londesboro.
Sixteen women met from
both the Zeta Omega
Xi Epsilon Beta chapters,
to enjoy a.,delicious pot-
luck dinner.
This year marks the
50th anniversary of Beta
Sigma Phi as a sorority.
In keeping with the idea
of "golden . memories",
members were asked to
identify the baby pictures
of 'those who were
present. It proved to be a
case of guesswork, at
which Linda Meade and
Vivienne Roy were most
successful.
Yearbooks for both
chapters were handed
out, which led to a
discussion of social and
fund-raising plans for the
coming year. The
meeting ended after a
time of conversation.

Although there are over
600 senior citizens in
Wingham, Mr. Taylor
said that those people
who have turned 65 years
old, haven't been joining
the club. . The mem-
bership has changed little
during the three or four
years he has been
president and he noted
that about half the
members now are 80
years old.
Forty-seven of these
members were present at
the meeting and Mrs.
Phoebe Stanley, a former
Clinton; resident, also
attended the meeting.
The winners of high
prizes in progressive
euchre included Mrs.
Cummings and Eleanor
Fisher and low prizes
were given to Mary
Wallis and Florence
Routzon.
The next meeting will
be held on September 14
at the Clinton town hall
and the social program
will be organized by Alex
and Wilma McMichael,
Reta 'Dales and Mr.
Rumball.

and Mervin Ross Taylor
were united in marriage
on August. 23 in . Christ
Church United, Clarkson,
Ontario.
The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mr
Arthur Elson , o

groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Terry Taylor of
RR 4, Clinton:
The bride chose a white
chiffon gown with lace
trim, and carried a
bouquet of . white car-
-nations and red roses.
She was attended by
Darlene Davis of
Mississauga, a friend of
the bride; Mrs. Ann
Sterken, sister of the
bride; Bev Taylor, sister
of the groom; and Janice
Elson, sister of the bride.
The flowergirl was Kim
Sterken, niece of the
bride.
The maid of honor was
dressed in., a ye°l`low
polyester gown with . a
coverup cape. The
bridemaids were dressed
in identical style, but
mint green in color. The
flowergirl was dressed in
a yellow polyester gown
and wore a flower halo in
her hair.
The best man was
Richard Taylor of
Stratford,- brother of the
groom, and ushers were

marriage Alice Bos,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Pieter Dos of R.R. 2,
Goderich and Henry
Nyman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Nyman of
R.R. 1, Wellington,
Ontario.
The bride was attended
by Helen Bos, sister of the
bride of Churchill,
Manitoba and
bridesmaids were Jane
Nyman, sister olr the
groom, of Wellington and,
Caroline Bos, sister of the
bride of Goderich.
The groomsman was
Bill Nibbelink . of
Bloomfield and guests
were ushered in by
Gerald Nyman, brother
of the groom, of
Wellington and Arjan Bos

Barnwell, Alberta.
The bridal couple spent
their honeymoon in the

Pennsylvania. They have
now taken up residence at
R.R. 1, Wellington),
Ontario.

Following a honeymoon
trip to the Manitoulin
Island, the couple will
reside at 43 Victoria
Street in Mitchell.
Prior to the wedding
the bride was honored
with a shower given by
Bev and Tami Taylor,
Anne Sterken, and Janice
Elson also gave her a
shower.

lapel pin has been pur-
chased by the chairman
and' will be on display at
the next meeting for
anyone interested in
purchasing'. one.
The bulletin chairman
reported that the fall
bulletin is coming along -
well. She was given
permission to purchase
the required material for
processing.
The members were
informed that members
are set for the upcoming
workshop which will be
held on Saturday, Sep-
tember 27, commencing
at 9 a.m. at the Royal
Canadian Legion Hall in
Goderich.

Tuesday was slated to
be fun day and games of
chance were set up in the
auditorium for the
residents to try their
luck. Special thanks to
Mr. Lester who braved
the rain and sat up on the
dunk tank fbr eager staff
members. This proved to
be so popular that we
decided to hold it over
until Wednesday and give
Tim Collyer a chance to
be dunked.
A quick trip
Goderich and over 1
enjoyed a feed of Ken-
tucky Fried Chicken at
the noon meal.
Twenty residents and
staff went to see Annie
Get Your Gun at Grand
Bend on Thursday.
Huronview will miss
Ruth Mutch, who passed
away in hospital on
Tuesday.
Special thanks to our

assistant 'administrator,
our 'engineers who spent
all their money trying to
dunk them, and who also
helped with the games
and especially Clark Ball
and Jack Carter who
always help so willingly,
The games of chance
from Clinton Lions and
Mr. Murray Draper for
