(Bud Sturgeon photo) Pre-school Group ready to begin It's time for school again, even for the little ones and registration for the Bayfield Co-operative Pre-school Play Group is now on. Ruth Andrew, chair- man of the Play Group reports that registration should be completed by September 5 and in- terested parents can register their children for. the Play Group at the Just Hair Shop on Main It's a fact There was Marconi and there also was Reginald Fessenden. Over the weekend of August 16 and 17, . the Bayfield Park hosted the Rondeau , and Peter- '- borough Wildwood Park contingents for friendly competition in a saries of special ct iviLieb. The 40 competitors from Rondeau, and the 49 from Peterborough were show some aspect of life, political bias, or customs of the times. Mr, MacMillan con- cluded his address by, stating that he would be very happy to make billeted with other ca'Irnpers at the Bayfield Last Sunday was a perfect sununer day for water related activities at Bayfield as the holiday period fast draws to a close. As well, a beauty contest to pick 'Miss Wildwood' provided lots of fun, as judges George Rich, Bruce Johnston and Stewart Asher deter- mined Aggie Sierowski of London to be the fairest in the `Woodland'. The Lwo clay sio-pitcl>< tournament wound to a close on Sunday with both of the Bayfield Parks Men's and Ladies' teams narrowly defeating their counterparts from Rondeau. This tourney also marked the opening of the new ball diamond at Woodland. Sunday also featured a pancake breakfast for all the visitors. Next year's plans for the annual event are already in the works and Rondeau Wildwood Park (just south of Chatham) will be hosting the fun weekend. This past weekend, the Wildwood Olympics were held at the Bayfield Parke with events like swim- ming, baseball, basketballt, volleyball, lawn darts, euchre and bridge filling the all day competition. Taking home the honours were the 'Jack Ber>,ny r Club' (39 and holding) who had the best participation as they edged out the Camp Adults and the Teens and Kids. Aboul 100 persons took part in the race for the trophy donated by Wildwood Park. The Olympics wound up with a 'fun Square Dance' and a mini -golf tournament. Next weekend, a flea market (with everyone from Bayfield and area welcome), an inter -camp baseball tournament and a turkey roast will close out the summer schedule of activities at the park.
