Varna and Goshen churches worship and picnic at, annual outdoor service

Varna and 'Goshen
Vnited Churches -held
their annual outdoor
chUrCh service in the
pavilion at Stanley Park
on Sunday. Many people
look forward to *Qr.
shipping in this beautiful
setting.
Special music was
provided by a quartette of
girls - Lori Consitt, Kirn
and Tracy Hayter and
Becky McKinley,- singing
"The Joy Qf the Lord"
and "Give Me Oil in My
Lamp", accOnvanied by
Becky and Tracy playing
ukuleles.
Hiep, the wife and
/nether of the Wen
family, sang "Till We
Meet Again" at the
conclusion of the worship
service, and "Something
Good" following the noon
.Marjorie Hayter
was 'the organist for the
•service.
Dianne Kirton and
Shirley Hill supervised
the children's races and
games. They began by
flying paper airplanes
they made themselves,
and Thuy Wen's model
went much farther than
the rest, and attracted a
lot of attention. First
prize winners for races
were David gHayter,
Darryn IVIcAsh, Lori
Consitt and Becky
McKinley. Scott Kirton
'w4s the first to burst his
balloon, and Lori Consitt
won the shoe scramble..

Rev. Brown had a very
enjoyable holiday in
Nova Scotia, spending
part of the time with her
family. She was also at-
Chatauqua Lake near
JamestOwn, N.Y. for a
few days.
Charles, Bernice and
Charlene Reid visited
with Bill and Mary Reid
of Sault Ste. Marie last
week.
Dayle Leppington spent
a week with Bob and
Gwytine Roberts and
family at their home on a
beautiful lake in Minaki,
near Kenora.
Krista McAsh had the
misfortune to break both
bones in her arm last
Thursday while at Camp
Menesetung with her
mother, who was one of
the arts and crafts
leaders.
Mildred McAsh and
Marjorie Hayter will
share, the organist's
duties in Varna church
beginning in September.
Congratulations to
MarjOrie Hayter who
received first class
honours in' grade three
harmony in recent
examinations. Becky
McKinley received first
class honours in grade
five piano and Tracy
Hayter had honours- in
grade four piano. They
are students of Mrs.
Dorothy Stade.
Dave and Bonnie Roy
and family enjoyed a ten-
day ' tour df Southern
Ontario, travelling as far
east as Ottawa, then
down along the St.
Lawrence Seaway,
visiting places of
historical interest. They
were in London for
Bonnie's mother's bir-
thday, and to the Glen.at
Arkona before returning
home. -
A good crowd turned
out for Stanley Town-
ship's corm. and wiener
roast at the ball park .on,
Thursday night.
Rev. Bennett
returns to
Middleton
by Blanche Deeves
Morning prayer was
held in St. James
Anglican Church on
Sunday and during the
service, Mrs. Sarah
Storey read the lesson.
Mr. Edward Wise
received the offering,
Rev. Wm, Bennett gave
the sermon and Mrs.
Storey was the organist.
The St. James
congregation are pleased
to have their Rector
back. He is feeling much
better again.
Special thoughts are
going out to Lynda and
Bill Steenstra on the
illness of their young son
Matthew. We all have get
well for Matthew
who is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital,
London.
Our good wishes go to
Mrs. Ottille Rowden who
is a patient in Clinton
hospital.

visitors on the weekend
with Delores and Alvin

have returned -to CFB
Shilo, Manitoba after
spending time visiting in
Ottawa, London, South-
wold and with friends in
Clinton.

have returned from a
very enjoyable trip to
Holland. There were very
happy grandparents and
on their arrival met tt..eir
grandson for the first
time. He's just seven
months old. It was good to
get bok home again to
Canada.' Prior to their
arrival it had rained for
six weeks - then the, sun
shone while they enjoyed
their visit.
