Convention.in Ottawa were memberof,1 Clinton Wheel 'n Dealers, Huron Happy Hearts and Huron Bruce Swingers - Lois and Cecil Elliott, Eleanor and Frank Falconer, Lois Hodgert, Ross and Wilma Higgins, Ross and Mildred Merrill, Stan and Bernice Mcllwain, Alex and Jean Nethery, Lawrence and Jean Plaetzer, Don and Grace Watson, Edward and Lois Wise, Blanche and Bruce Morrice, Hazel and Alf Smith, Mildred, Archie and Kendra Purdon, Peter, Sybil and Colin Chandler. They were amonst the 5,550 square and round dancers attending the 2nd National Canadian Square and Round Dance Convention in Ottawa last August 7-8-9. While there, they danced on Parliament Hill and earned a special badge to commemorate it. The dance followed the Changing of the Guard , ceremony which takes place every morning during • the summer in Canada's capital. The Convention provided non-stop dan- cing from 2 to 5p.m. and from 8 to 11 p.m. for each. of the three days on eight huge flours at Lansdowne Park, Other related events included a Fahion Show for square da cers, seminars, wokshops and an hour- long pageant each eying rc - - , CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, THURSDAY, AUGUST 1d.19A0-PAGE �l Blyth Festival's popularity•� everincreasing Attendance at the Blyth Summer Festival is 122 percent of last year's attendance at this point, Keith Roulston, *ad- ministrator of the Festival announced recently. "The 'average at- tendance at a per- formance is up by 60 people a night," Mr. Roulston said. "And the phone is still ringing off the hook." 41 Mr. Roulston advised holders of vouchers for the season to make plans to attend the plays soon, as some dates are sold Out now, and all weekend going quiickly. Vouchers MUST be exchanged for tickets to a particular performance well in advance,, and reser- vations pan be made at the Blyth box office by phone,nail or in person.
