Unable to suppress a

On the lighter side of life. we must note that"the
121,th Annual Bayfield Fall Fair is„ just around the
cbrner, slated for Labour Day Weekend,.
- Billed as an 'Old Time Fair'. we went out to look
for an old time story about 'Fairs Past'.
So it seems, -two locals took it upon themselves to
brew up a batch of elderberry wine one year around
fair time.
To keep the story credible, we must point out that
in those days, the Bayfield, Fair was held later in
the fall, hence the berries were past season and
ample time was available for the fermentation to
take effect.
From their lakebank residence it was toted to ,t-11,6
Agricultural Park in 'honey pails' where it was
passed through a hole in the hoard fence to the
thirsty recipients
Drinking elderberry wine from a wide mouthed
honey pail is by no means a delicate task', thereby -
explaining the blue moustaches and the two blue
streaks down the fronts of the shirts of many 'fair
dignitaries' and other sippers. .
However, that was an old time fair. But if you see
the tell-tale signs again, you'll know what hap-
pened.

Next week we're either going golfing or down to
'Jack the Hugger's Lane', or maybe both. Who
knows?

Don't forget the ratepayers' meeting at the Old
