Here at theNews- Record office we were most interested in «°letter which our editor, and presumably editors all across the land received from Mr. Geoffrey H. Wood, Chairman and Chief Executive Office of this G.H. -nod & Com- pany Limited whose well- known slogan is "Sanitation for the Nation', The letter which we received enclosed a copy of a release which Mr. Wood had written to all the G.H. Wood personnel in Canada, in the U.S.A AND OVERSEAS. Briefly the release appealed to all members of the company to donate to the Terry Fox Fund, the total donated would in turn be matched, dollar for dollar by the G.H, by peggy'gibb► Wood Company, and then In ad_ditiO Mr. Geoffrey Wood would personally match the amount which his , company donates. The play is "Dog" - written by Jim Schaefer it is the story of a boy and his dog and their conflicts with the real and unreal world of bbackyard summer life. It will play on Tuesday August 1.2 in the Kirkton Community Centre at 10:30 a.m. and in Bayfield Town Hall at 3:00 p.m. On Wednesday, August 13 it plays at the Brussels. Branch Library at 10:30 a.m. and at Wingham Town Hall at 3:00 p.m. This is funded by Outreach Ontario and sponsored by the Huron County -Public Library The Clinton Women's Institute held their an- nual picnic and grand-. mothers' day at the Conservation Area Park on July 24. It was a lovely day and there was a very good attendance. Mrs. May Gibson and Mrs. Doris Batkin were in charge of entertainment, which was enjoyed by all. Mrs. May Gibson opened the meeting with an amusing reading. Several games were organized, the winners being Mrs. Kroesen, Mrs. Bronner, Mrs. Leona Lockhart, Mrs. Pearl Cummings, Mrs. Polly Wiltse, Mrs. Helen Rath - well and Mrs. Baker. They were awarded $100 and a trophy, and, each team member was given a visor. In their first game, they Bayfield No -names by a 7 to 1 score, then took the second game with a 10 to 7 win over the Stanley Stars. They went on to defeat the Pine Lake team 4'to 1 to win the "A" championship. Their coach is Tom Leppington: Base coaches for the tournament Were Bruce Horton and Eric Chutes. Tom and Dayle Lep- pington donated trophies for the season's most valuable player, won by the captain, Katherine Horton, and the •most improved player, Sharon Chuter. The Recreation Committee has scheduled the annual Corn Roast for August 14. If you want some hot dogs, too, bring along some wieners and rolls. • Members . of the committee would like to thank the.
