McDonald conducted the double ring ceremony Which united ,To -Anne 'Meta. Collins and William. Gordon Smyth in the holy bonds of matrimony. The bride is .- the youngest cjaughter of Mrs. ElizabethFoster, R.R. 3, Clinton and the late Stanley E. Collins. The groom is the youngest son of Gordon Smyth,. R,R, 2, Auburn and Mrs. Hazel Smyth of Goderich. Music was provided by organist Mrs. Louise Wilson, neighbour of the groom and the soloist was a niece of the groom Mi's Marsha Alton. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her second eldest brother, Bruce Collins, Clinton, and given in marriage by her mo'th'er. The bride looked lovely in a long, soft, fiowing gown of polyester sheer. It featured a rounded neckline accented with two layers of gathered ,sheer forming a ruffle ,and an empire waistline • with long, flowing skirt held at the back with a long chapel train. The neckline and bodice of the gown were accented with imported . lace from Frnce. e �i veil was rti fingertip r P edged with matching lace from France with ap- pliques of the same lace attached at random to the ''eil. Her veil was held in place by a caplet trim- med with the same lace and accented with tiny seeded pearls. • The bride carried a cascade of yellow sweetheart roses, white daisies, orange and blue stephanotis and baby's breath. Maid of honour was Miss Karen Stephenson, a it7rt Mr. and Mrs. W. Gordon Smyth (photo by Fitzgerald) friend of the bride and groom from Niagara Falls. She wore a powder blue gown featuring shoestring straps and blouson waistline, tied in front with a tiny bow. A matching jacket with cap sleeves trimmed with Alecon- lace accented the dress. Bridesmaids were Miss Hazel Collins, Hamilton, a sister of the bride, and Carol Ann Smyth, Dungannon, a niece of the groom. They were gowned • in identical dresses to the maid of & hono.ur with Haze in yellow and Carol A in pale orange. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Kimberley Edward, Benmiller, niece of the groom. The bride's-mothe, wore an apricot dress with white polka dots, knee length dress, and wore a corsage of white and apricot silk roses while the groom's mother wore knee length flowered 'dress in dif- ferent shades of rust and brown and a corsage of rust silk roses. A double reception with the bride's sister and her husband (who had been married earlier that afternoon) was held at Saltford. Valley Hall. For the occasion, the bride had decorated her own wedding cake which sat on a table at the front of the hall. Upon their return the happy couple have taken over the family farm at R.R. 2, Auburn. Prior totheir marriage the bride was feted with several showers given by: her bridesmaids - Karen, Hazel and Carol. Ann in Carol Ann's home, for fri ends and relatives e of the groom by her aunt Olive Broadfoot, in her home for relatives. of the bride; by Mrs. Annie Hartman and Helen in their home_, for neigh- bours of the bride; and in the home of Mrs. Wayne Lester given by the ladies of the Calvary Pen- tecostal Church in Clinton. The bride and groom were also honoured with .a buck and doe stag in Dungannon prior to their marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McDonald Lesley Willis wedding Wesley Willis United Church, Clinton, was decorated with mums, gladioli, and ferns for the July 12 union of Marlene Ann Cunningham and Donald Bruce' McDonald. Marlene is the daughter -of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Cunningham, Clinton, and Bruce is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald McDonald, R.R. 2, Brussels. Reverend John Oestreicher officiated the double -ring ceremony with Cathie Potter playing traditional wedding music. Graeme Craig sang The Wedding Prayer aye and Wedding Song and Donald_ McDonald' sang the Lord's Prayer.. The bride given in marriage by her mother 'and father, chose an elegant gown of silk .jersey with beaded Alecon lace crossing the bodice:3 Full bishop sleeves ended with lace cuffs and a chapel train' completed the dress. The bride wore a white venise half hat with an illusion veil cascading to the floor. A very feminine gathering of orange. Gayle ',Cunningham, sister of the bride was maid of honour..She wore a baby blue quianna floor -length dress with empire waist and .fitted bodice and a chiffon cape accented the gown. Gayle carried a nosegay ' of white daisies, orange miniature carnations sparkled with 'baby breath in blue tints. The bride was also assisted, by Dianne Miller, sister of the bride, Patti Kay ' of London, friend T of the '_bride . and Jeanne McDonald, sister of the groom. Their gowns matched the maid of honour. The =-groomsman was Phil Blake, Kitchener, friendof the groom, and. the guests were ushered 'into. the ,church by Jim McDonald, brother of the groom, Paul Storey and Brad Stenning of North Bay, friends of the groom. A reception followed at the B.M.G. Community Centre in Brussels, where Joe Cunningham, uncle of the bride, was master of ceremonies. Guests were welcomed by the bride's mother who wore a dusty pink crepe Georgette mid-calf dress. The two piece dress featured a square neck and flowing skirt, and was completed with a cymbidiu7n orchid with baby breath. She was assisted by the groom's mother wearing a mint green quianna cocktail dresswith spaghetti straps and matching jacket,. A corsage of mauve miniature car- nations and baby breath was worn. For the honeymoon to North Bay and Ottawa, the bride chose a red dress with white ac- cessories and a gardenia.. Prior to the wedding, the bride and groom were feted at showers hosted by Piet and Rose 'toomans and Phil and Dianne Blake, Mary Heuther, Brussels, Mary Jean Beattie and Marg Fleming, and Shirley and Patti Kay. Guests attended from Florida, Toronto, Ottawa, 'North Bay, Delhi, Lon- don, Kitchener and Michigan. - The happyq couple `will ,..,r. side in Wingahm where Bruce works- for Keil Insurance and Marlene will be teaching in Belgrave. Barney said 80 persons will represent Clinton at a four-day meeting planned for the Western Fair Grounds, London, August 7-10. "' - "Love is one of the strongest emotions for good in humans" Barney said, "and yet we live in a love -starved world. Divorce, crime,. deliquency and most other problems besetting man would disappear if the two greatest laws ever given, to love God and to love one's neigh- bour, were obeyed." Lowe Katherine Joy "Kay" Lowe, 64 of Fort Frances passed away at the LaVerendrye Hospital on l�tondaj%;-3Tj 7 i 980: S'he was born on January 8, 1916 in Yarmouth, N.S. As a young woman Mrs. Lowe lad a highly successful career as a dietitian. She received the degree of Bachelor of Science in. Home Economics from Acadia university and the Professional Dietetic Diploma ' from Toronto General Hospital. She was employed as a dietitian at the Mountain Sanatorium in Hamilton for a number of years and as a food supervisor at the John Inglis munitions plant in Toronto.
