Church news
The Sunday morning
service at Hensall United
Church was conducted by .
Rev. Stan McDonald who
took pain and suffering as
the subject of his
message. With pain and
suffering comes insight
and victory over evil.
Pain helps to develop
character,. , In the end
"We are more than
conquerors through Jesus
Christ and a wonderful
reward will be ours."
The children's story
was on "What makes an
engine go" and music
was provided by Gayle
Shaw and Don Travers,
who sang I come to the
garden alone". Mrs.
Gertrude Middleton
officiated at the organ
and piano..
LLL hold meeting
La Leche League of
Huron Co -South met last
month at the home of
Mrs. Pat Jewitt, R.R. 4,
Clinton to discuss the act
of breastfeeding and
overcoming difficulties.
The leader, Mrs. Peter
Bisback of Hensall
welcomed women and
some nursing babies who -
had travelled from as far
as Goderich and
Crediton, to the second in
a series of four get-
togethers intended to give
information and provide
support to those women
feeding their infants.
The next meeting will
be held August 1st at Mrs.
Jewitt's home. It is hoped
that many new women
will join the regulars as
well as women who used
to attend league series.
These experienced
mothers are always
welcome guests and are a
necessary part of a La
Leche League meeting.
• Ball Game
Sports: fans in the area
are in for -a real treat
Tuesday night, 'August 5
when two fine fastball
teams take to the
diamond at Hensall
Community Park.
The game will be
unique in that it pits One
of Ontario's best ladies'
fastball teams and a good
men's tournament team.
Facing each other will
be the Milverton Suns,
perennial championship
contenders in Canadian
ladies fastball circles and
the Zurich Buckeyes.
Stellar members of the
Milverton club for a
number -of years are
Exeter's Lynne Farquhar
and Iris Marshall, for-
merly of Kirkton and
Clinton's Sandra
Fremlin. •
Baseball history will_be
recalled during the pre-
game official cere.> an;es
when at least two of
Hensall greats of the past
will participate.
Bert Horton, who was a
member "of a -cham-
pionship Hensall club in
-1928will don the catcher's
glove and 'Ed Corbett,
well known for his speed
in the out field and canny
ability to get on base by
way of walks will swing a
bat.
It is hojied to lure a
pitcher Ajit, of retirement
to complete the triangle.
It could be Carter Ker-
slake who foiled area
batteias for many years
with his tantalizing
curves.
The umpiring for the
big game will- be in the
good hands with Bill
Topping of St. Thomas
• balls and strike
aid former Hensall
athlete Steve Kyle on the
bases.
Adding to the festivities
will be the appearance of
