Three former star baseball players in the Hensall area will be back in uniform for a- short time Tuesday, August 5 as they take 'part in the first pitch ceremonies prior to an exhibition game between the Milverton Suns, ladies fastball team and one of the top men's tournament teams, the ' Zurich Buckeyes. Ed Corbett is up to bat and Bert Horton handles the catching duties. Carter Kerslake will do the pitching come Tuesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Corbett were pleasantly surprised when neigh- bours and relatives gathered at their new home in Hensall and presented them with a gift. A social time was enjoyed and refresh- ments served. The many friends of Ernie Davis welcome him home after un- dergoing surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Tammy and' Danny Rader of Kitchener have returned home after a week's holiday with their grandparents,- -Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Grenier. Laura and Kathy Turner of Rosevale, Michigan spenta week's holidays with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Greneier, Hensall and' also visited with relatives in the Zurich and Grand Bend area. Child in Hospital Four-year-old Catharine Corbett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 'Al Corbett, underwent surgery in University Hospital, London following an accident, when the swing she was on upset throwing her to the ground. The child was take to Hospital, Exeter and transferred to University Hospital, where she underwent surgery for Date changed The 1981 Hensall Spring Fair will be held two weeks earlier than normal. Directors meeting Monday night decided to hold next year's event on Tuesday, June 9. The move was made because of elementary school graduation ceremonies which are usually held the last week of June and this year may have cut attendance at the fair. internal injuries. Church news The Sunday morning service at Hensall United Church was conducted by . Rev. Stan McDonald who took pain and suffering as the subject of his message. The children's story was on "What makes an engine go" and music was provided by Gayle Shaw and Don Travers, who sang I come to the garden alone". Mrs. Gertrude Middleton officiated at the organ and piano.. LLL hold meeting La Leche League of Huron Co -South met last month at the home of Mrs. Pat Jewitt, R.R. 4, Clinton to discuss the act of breastfeeding and overcoming difficulties. The leader, Mrs. Peter Bisback of Hensall welcomed women and some nursing babies who - had travelled from as far as Goderich and Crediton, to the second in a series of four get- togethers intended to give information and provide support to those women feeding their infants. The next meeting will be held August 1st at Mrs. Jewitt's home. It is hoped that many new women will join the regulars as well as women who used to attend league series. These experienced mothers are always welcome guests and are a necessary part of a La Leche League meeting. • Ball Game Sports: fans in the area are in for -a real treat Tuesday night, 'August 5 when two fine fastball teams take to the diamond at Hensall Community Park. The game will be unique in that it pits One of Ontario's best ladies' fastball teams and a good men's tournament team. Facing each other will be the Milverton Suns, perennial championship contenders in Canadian ladies fastball circles and the Zurich Buckeyes. Stellar members of the Milverton club for a number -of years are Exeter's Lynne Farquhar and Iris Marshall, for- merly of Kirkton and Clinton's Sandra Fremlin. • Baseball history will_be recalled during the pre- game official cere.> an;es when at least two of Hensall greats of the past will participate.
