60 children registered to
take advantage `of the
Vacation Bible School

Edith Taylor, Margaret.

Shirley Scott, Florence

Shillinglaw. The music
was supplied by Louise
McGregor.
On Friday morning
parents and friends
viewed the crafts and
then the children
presented a program.
Mrs. Scott began by
playing music on her
guitar. Each class sang
and one class of boys put
on a skit.
•Rev. Scott introduced
the leaders and presented
each with a thank you
diploma and everyone
enjoyed refreshments

UCW met on July 8 at the
home of Mrs. Margaret
,Whyte.
Leader Helen Lawson
opened the meeting with.
a reading and the
minutes were read by
Dora Shobbrook. A thank -
you note was. received
from Tri Duizer as well
as a letter from the
group's foster child.
Laura Lyon gave the
treasurer's report and 16
members and 10 mem-
bers answered the roll
call by naming a city in
Japan.

and Mary Longman and
everyone signed a get
well card for Ida Durnin
who is a patient in Clinton
hospital.
Edythe Bea,come
reported that the general
UCW delegates who went
to the Si. Thomas school
for women were Joan
Whyte and Marjorie
, Duizer. The UCw will be
catering to the Blyth
Summer Fesitval "lun-
cheon on July 10 and will
served dinner to theatre
• goers on July 19.
Addie Hunking
reported for the
congregational life and
work annual family
outdoor service and
picnic to be held on July
20 at Camp Menesetung.
Mrs. Whyte and Mrs.
Wood led in the program
with readings and Mrs.
Wood played the piano.
The Whyte children
entertained with piano
numbers_ by Brian and-
Crystal.

guitar and Murray gave a
reading.
Mrs. Wood spoke about,
the boat people and in-
troduced her daughter,
Lois Andrews, a member
of -the , Northjea United
Chruch in Toronto, where
they are sponsoring a
family from Vietnam.
Their church pledged
$9,000 to the young family -
iii February 1979 and they
give them -$90 a week to -
live ' on. The 24 -year-old
father is an electrician
and his 21 -year-old wife

training.

WI Agriculture meeting
The WI Agriculture
meeting was held on July
9 and president Alice
Buchanan thanked
everyone who helped with
the graduation banquet
and gave a reading. June
. th rgi-1-1 gave the
secretarial report and the
roll call was answered by
17 members.
The WI award in home
economics was won by
Arlene Vanderlie and Bill
Jewitt won the industrial
award.

reported on the July 15
bus trip and for the
August 12 meeting the
'ladies will meet at the
hall at 11:10 am and go to
ARC Industries for lunch,
a tour and a meeting.
Mrs. Taylor introduced
Susan Zeilman of Zurich,
who is this year's Dairy
Princess. She showed a
film on milking methods
from -the 1800's up to the
present day. She also
showed how wood pulp
can be used to make a
coating which is used in
