At the
Legion
By Rene.'Brochu
It was like the good old
days when we gathered
together at the ‘close of
the ' work week for an
eveningof sing -along.
The Legion -was in a gala
mood as young and not so
young gathered in ottr
lower lounges last Friday
evening for a good old
fashio'ned Pub -Night. It
was TGIF, only with an
added touch. It was again
our Eugene Bradley and
=hip --fabulous .,instrtursnt_
providing the music with
songs from Scotlanc4„
Ireland, England, and
yes, France, as well as
authentic Swiss"- Songs
beautifully sang filling
the bill, and, let's not
forget those songs from
dear young America and
our western heritage. It
was a great evening with
our own Stanley, "the
moustache", Battleading
many of the songs until
his voice "cracked" and
gavb-out.
Meh1ers of our
.Entertal mento Com-
mittee mittee were.•the spot as
Terry and Valerie
Hollinshead an a ilt and
Mabel Schreiber -re on
the job -in the kit en
while Billy Cox was doi
the job on the barbecue.
The hamburgers and
chips were really ‘a tasty
treat. From the remarks
of those who attended, it
was really a delightful,
jolly evening and one we
can be proud of as many
members and friends
gathered and par-
ticipated in the sing -
along. What a terrific
way to spread
comradeship!
We visualize another
such evening in August!
n'est pas? In the
meantime, we have• this .
Friday and Friday nights
in betwee. ; our
customary T '' is
week it will be1`#yt emade

Cooke and his group• of
associate members on
the job. The $200 jackpot
prize was split between
twd of our. regular at
tenders, Heather
Plum steel of Vanastra
and Iva Reid from
Hensall. Still with bingo,
did you know that the
Monster Bingo which is
held during the. summer
months, and sponsored
by all the Service,Clubsof
Clinton has cleared close
0,7,000 .00- Str f`a'i' this
year? If you would wish
to volunteer to helpin the
project, Legion members
can _make themselves
available by calling
Percy Brown. Let's all
get behind •this worthy
project, as all proceeds
are used for the bet-
termenf of our com-
mun i ty .
Another project, which
is -sponsored by all of our
Clinton Service Clubs, is
a $25 a plate dinner-daii'ce°
for September 13th with
the proceeds going
towards the swimming
pool , fund.' MT of our
support is required to
make this one successful.
Someone said a"wEiile-
back, that, July and
August were the poor
months for the Legion, so
let's prove them wrong
by more action and
participation, all we need
is music of some kind,.
and hpppy people! See
you at the Legion.
