Maybe some readers are already familiar with the following information picked out of the guide, but it was news tome. Quote'. "The first batch of freezers displaying the "teerguide" label will 'Soon be appearing in the mar e p ace, e --label states, the average amount of electricity the appliande consumeS each month. The federal gevernment has made it mandatory that all freezers manufactured after November 30, 1979 display the label on the outside ofthe lid ' or front." This means that by Spring, many freezers sold in Canada will have "Energuide" labels. Last year, similar legislation was .passed applying to _refrigerators . CSA tests both freezers and refrigerators to verify the. amount . of energy con- sumed and has published a directory listing models of refrigerators and the amount of electricity they use. This list should noW be available, frea ot charge, from many public utilities and all Consumer. and Corporate Affairs offices across - the country. So if you are planning to buy a new refrigerator or freezer, cheek for the "Energuide" label - it could save you money. + + + Mr. and Mrs. Ernest • Lawsorr-ef Erie Street, Cl• ratin (valet • $ 1 " • their 70th ,wedding an- niversar'y on Sunday, June 29, 1980.
