Apple trees are now in full blossom, and give promise of a good crop. It is said that the blossoming of apple trees is the true test oi the forwardnese of the season; from which it would seem that spring this year is not so much later than the average as has been supposed -the records of the last eighty years in Ontario givingthe 22nd of May as the average date on which apple blossoms had fully expended. The latest date recorded during eighty years was the 9th of June, in1867 ; the earliest, the 26th of April, in 1878. Scott A.ct Repeal. The Dominion Government has decided to issue forthwith a proclamation declar- ing atan end in those counties where the Scott Act was recently repealed the Order in -Council declaring the Act not in force. This will, therefore, permit the use of li- censes almost at once, it being understood although the time for granting licenses is passed, that Mr. Mowat has made some arrangement to meet the wishes of the aepeopleetifgthe counties who have recently decided M -such an emphatic manner against the Act. — A. Seeley Business. There is nothing like success, and to be successful a business znan should not mis- represent anything he offers to the public This one thing has been the cause of the -success of C. Wu.Son. & Sox the well- known scale manufacturers, of 'Esplanade Street East, Toronto. When taking a leek into the business warehouses our -eyes would strike the name Wassote on the scales in four fifths of all the business places, large or small; and when the question was pot why they used the Wn- so scales in preference to other make, a smile would come over the proprietor's lace, with the reply, because we can always depend on them. The name C. Watsoze & Soer is now well known in foreign countries as well as in Canada. - .Toronto Mail. -Personal. 3Ir. On both ocea, sions the attendance was good, more especially in the evening the testetnong of those axesent in the after noon, as to the superiority of the perform- ance, imbuing all with a desire t attend the everting entertainment. We were present end must corroborate the expres. slots of the tines generally in stating that the show is up to the mark and truly worthy of the praise given it. It dm not altogether partake of the character- istice of the regularly constituted circus but rather embraces Melly new and. novel feature, suell as the life end habite of the ed men and cow boys of the wild west, the different acts being tette unto life; indeed realistie in every sense. The shooting of the two cow boys was cleverly done and elicited great applause. In turn ethey would shoot a perzrat off the head Of each other, at a range of 10 yards, the sight; being taken at different postures mid from a miniature looking -glass. The wild west show alone is well worth the price of admission ; but besides there fit given a performance of tumbling and acrobatic contortioes of an enterttunieg cli a meter. The early closing movement, recently adopted by many of the smaller towns, bat proven to be b000 rather than a boon to the various places. The anniversary of the Bethesda S.
