The roll call was answered by 13 members with a recipe exchange and the minutes - of the April meeting were read by secretary June Fothergill. Correspondence in- cluded a letter from Gail Lear and 'the money collected from her music recital added lip to $61.65 and the piano tuning cost $63. Thank you messages were received from Harriett Knox and Elsie Shaddi ck. It was decided to hold the next unit meeting on gut 18 and the group agreed to thank the ham, supper committee. Kathy McDougall for the treasurer's report noted that $1,164.38 was made from this year's ham supper. Mrs. Cartwright and Lena Nesbitt conducted the worship portion of the meeting and Shirley Scott gave the Bible study and played " guitar ac- .companiment from- songs. rom°'songs. Mrs. Scott reads W= � Sundayservjce Gordon Shobbrook and Shirley Scott greeted the congregation at the Londesboro United Church on Sunday .and the ushers were Russell -Nesbitt, John Cartwright, Gary Wilts and Larry Hoggart, Louise McGregor was the organist and Ruth Shaddick led the choir. M'rs. Shirley. Scott led the service while; Rev. Scott was attending a St. Luke's Conference. Mrs. Scott announced that the • flowers in the church were placed by Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lyon inhonor of the marriage of their daughter Kathy to Ronald Moes in Lon- desboro' United on June 2'1. Flowers was__ also -placed in memory of Norman Cartwright who died two years ago ori June 24. The children's story was Walking in Time and the junior teachers were Florence Cartwright and Sheila Thompson. Mrs. Scott concluded her message with a guitar and vocal solo. Music recital A large number of parents and friends enjoyed Louise McGregor's music recital Happenings from Hullett On Wednesday, June 18th the grade 7 class accompanied by Mr. Talbot and Mr. Gingerich went by bus to Toronto for their end of the year trip. First, they went to the Toronto Metropolitan Zoo and ate lunch at MacDonalds. . They then went to the Blue Jay's Game where the Blue Jays defeated the White Sox five to four. ' Pizza party On Thursday June 19 at' noon, the members of the band enjoyed a pizza party. Pop was also provided. The party was paid for by the students' council. Mrs. Johnstone, the conductor, of the band, received prUsents frdm the entire band for an, excellent year. On Tuesday, June 17, the Hullett boys and girls slo-pitch teams went to Clinton Public School t� I. `ay in a tournament against local Harron County schools. Congratulations to the boys'who came in 'second place and the girls who put in a good effort. On Friday, June 20, Mrs. Bosman's grade 1 and 2 class and Mrs. Hoernig's grade 2 class took a trip to Grand Bend Zoo and Ferguson apiaries at Mensal' to watch the bees make honey. The class have been studying about bees during class time. On Friday, June 20, grades 3 and 5 left for the Metro Toronto Zoo. This trip will help the grade 3 in their study of animals. A few parents went along to heti s4 ervise the students. The bus left shortly after 9 a.m. and returned about 9 p.m. The trip was very educational and the students enjoyed it,_ve'ry.,, much. -�. Band tour On Monday, June 16 the Hullett Central band and choir went on a tour. At 9 a.m. they went to Belgrave Public School. They then went to Tur- nbet'ry Central School. The pupil then travelled to a''park in Winghatn to eat "their 1 ch. Next the band and choir went to Wingham and Brussels Public Schools to perform their last two numbers. After a long day, they travelled -back to Hullett. At each of,,the schools, the band and junior choir played and sane several songs. On Monday, June 23 at 11:15 a.m. Central Park Elementary Senior Choir came to Hullett to sing a few numbers. ,The school gathered in the auditorium to hear the choir. • . Last day of school Wednesday, June 25 was the last day of school before the summer holidays. The kin- dergarten graduation was held at 9:30 followed by the awards shortly after. At 11:30 the Itudents ate lunch and watched a baseball game between the teachers and the pupils. Just before the students went,home, they received their report Cards•and at 2 p.m. in the afternoon the buses were leaving for home. We wish all the students and teachers a safe, happy hgliday. tis on June 19. Janice Moffatt and Louise McGregor played a duet and Kim Rathwell and Nancy Taylor played another. The concluding number was a piano solo by Louise McGregor. Fpilowing the program,. a Tight finch was served by Margaret Whyte, Edythe Beacom, Hattie Wood and Helen Lawson, members of the UCW's Berean Unit.
