The Golden Radar Club
held its final meeting of
the 1$79-80 year in the
Town Hall on Wednesday
evening June 18, with 48
members present. The
business session was.
conducted by vice-
president'Ed Johns.
At this time, the club
was . visited by three
University students Janet
Bolton of Seaforth, Cathy
Pickard and Michelle
Smith both of Clinton,
who gave a short talk.
They are working under a
surnmer youth ern
ployment program
setting up a telephone
reassurance service for
the elderly and disabled.
The ' program is • spon-
sored by the Huron' Day
Care Centre at Huron -
view and is ' explained

of the Clinton News -

the Vanastra Recreation
Centre advising us that
Rick Fortune has been
hired as a full-time
Recreation Activity
Coordinator, outlining
many special programs
available and inviting
any person or group to
make use of them at all
times. • ,
The 'nominating
committee appointed to
bring in a slate of officers
for 1980-81 to'the meeting
on Sept. 4, is,Mary Grigg,
Leila Johnston, Charlie
Wallis,and Flora Dowson.
Mr. Johns reported that
only 'a few seats remain
for the bus trip to
Muskoka Sept. 19-22, so
anyone wishing to go
should leave their name
with him very soon. _.

Ottery to be ; held in
Clinton Community
•Centre on Thursday, June
26 - with entertainment,
draws and lunch in the
afternoon for seniors who
have received com-
plimentary tickets.
The craft workshop to
be held in the auditorium
at Huronview on
Tuesday, June 24 from 10
a.m. till, 4 p.m., with
demonstrations and sales
of many different crafts

and informative day.

Wesley -Willis UCW
gathered at Mary Sut-
ter's lakeside cottage on
the evening of June 17 to
enjoy a scrumptious pot
luck supper.
The sun was warm and
in that beautiful setting
the birds provided dinner
music. 'Mrs. Cleta
Holland , assisted the
hostess. ' The ladies
moved inside 'for their
meeting.
Mary Murch opened
the meeting with a
reading about coping
'with our troubles and
offered prayer. Mary
then amused the group
with three delightfully
funny readings that she
had saved for many
years. Pennies were
collected and the offering
dedicated. .
Marg Cole's
treasurer's report
showed $22.50 from May
envelopes and Bessie
Steepe's social report told
about quilting .two single
bed quilts for the bazar
and about ooking after
the Sunda y coffee hour.
The ` 'epte ber meeting
will be taken by Florence
Oliver and Billie Stewart.
Our special speakers
were Margaret Coventry
and PhylM Wise who had
attended Westminster
weekend in London and
they told of the excellent
quality of the program
presented. The Rev: Don
Parsons of St. Thdmas
spoke four times on the
chosen theme "Follow
Me". The girls also
brought back new songs
and literature for the
church library. '`

them for sharing their
experiences and Billie
Stewart thanked Mary

hospitality - all enjoyed
her cozy fire.

Mr. Johns thanked
everyone for their help
and cooperation during
the two .meetings which
he conducted in June,
wished everyone a happy,
healthy summer and
invited everyone back to
begin a new season on
September 3.

500 wefce enjoyed for an
hour. High prizes for
euchre were won by Viola
Lampman and Charlie
Wallis and tli6 Tow prize
winners were Bessie'
Steepe and Bernice
Brown. Grace White had
high score for 500 and
Muriel Jones the low
score.
