Audrey Middleton read the lesson and Ray Wise and Edward Deeves received the offering. The "theme of Rev. Bennett's sermon was, Consider the Lilies. Priesthood of the church on .St. Alban's Day, 24 years ago June 22 in- All Saints' Cathedral', Edmonton, Alberta. Many of the members of St. James note with regret the death of a former Rector, The Reverend Herbert James Ernest Webb who died June 19. He was Rector at St. James from 1950-52. The congregation signed a sympathy card to be sent to his wife Mary and his family. On Saturday afternoon Mrs. Annie Hartman and Helen opened their home to a double bridal shower for Diane and Jcs--Anne Collins, brides-to-be July 12. Annie Hartman in- troduced the girls and guests and welcomed them to the shower. , Nina Potter and Angela Radford presented the gifts and Marie Collins and Dorothy Airdrie assisted the brides. Helen Hartman "and Lois Jackson made hats from the bows on the gifts. Diane and Jo -Anne thanked the ladies for coming and -for their lovely gifts and Mrs. Hartman -and Helen for having the shower and invited everyone to their joint reception July 12, 1980 at the Saltford Hall. Annie Hartman and Helen served the lunch and a Social time was' enjoyed. Congratulations to Margaret Steenstra and William McCabe on their marriage on July 21. A reception was held following the wedding in the Goderich Legion Hall. John Deeves has returned from a trip to Penticton, B.C. where he attended the Legion -' Convention. John was a guest at the home of Ellen and Fred Carlson of Golden and while 'in Manitoba he spent several days with Len and Donna Milt at C.F.B., Shilo. The ACW of Middleton Church have been busy and have finished a quilt they started about a week ago. The ACW were on the go again Monday and took their very successful bus trip to Niagara Falls. The courteous bus driver was Jim Mitchell of Strathroy and everyone enjoyed the performance at Marineland and Game Farm. A delicious supper was served at the Queenston Heights Restaurant. They arrived home in Clinton at 9 pm, a happy but tired group. The ACW would like to say a very warm' thank you to all who helped to snake this bus trip such a success.
