LISTOWE L - There's no
disputirlg7 that Hockey
Hall of Famer, the late
Fred "Cyclone" Taylor
was born in Tara.
'Therefore it is only' fitting
that the Heritage
Foundation should unveil
a plaque in Tara com-
memorating the fact.
However, the great
hockey player came to
Listowel as a young boy
and always considered
this to be his home town:
During his lifetime he
returned to visit Listowel
every year with the ex-
ception of two..
' Although Mr. Taylor
died in June 1979, his
name still lives on in
Listowel. The town's
Junior 'D' hockey team is
named the Cyclones and
all 'A' teams in the
Listowel Minor Hockey
Association carry the
same name. The most
valuable juvenile hockey
player each year receives
the Fred Taylor trophy.
