The inter -church refugee committee held a picnic at
Harbor Park on Saturday for the refugee families now
located in this area. About 100 persons turned out from

Helps at Bible School
Leader Helen Lawson
opened the June 10
meeting of the United
Chruch Women's Berean .
Unit with a reading and
roll call was answered by
14 members.
Dora Shobbrook gave a
reading and a treasurer's
report was given by
Laura Lyon. Happy
Birthday, was sung for
Ida Iurnin, Debbie and
Angela Scott. The Berean
Unit will sponsor Louise
=McGregor's-m u sie=reo}tal
on June 19 and, each
member is asked to bring
two dozen cookies,
brownies'or squares.
Bible Vacation School
will be held from July 7 to
11 and several members
will bring cookies and
Mrs. Shobbrook will
supply Freshie. The
Burns Unit will supply
the refreshments on July
11.
The July 8 Berean Unit
will be held at the home of
Margaret Whyte and the
guest speaker will be Lois
Andrews, telling about
'the boat people. Edythe
Beacom will clean the
church brass for July.
Mrs. Lawson gave a
reading. The new
treasurer is Mrs. Bill
Hanley and the fall
regional meeting will be
held in Bayfield on
October 6. Berean : Unit
members will be writing
to their foster child with
Mrs. Lawson
corresponding in June, Vi
Burns in July and Mrs.
Whyte in August.

Richard W. Snell
received his Bachelor of,
Law dregree at the
University of Western
Ontario spring con-
vocation held on June 9 at
Alumni Hall in London.
Richard is a graduate of
CHSS, Clinton and the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Snell of Londesboro.
Richard has accepted an
articling position with the
law office of Mr. Alfred
Mano, London.
Japan and told how they
lost Their fishing rights
after the bombing at
Pearl Harbor and gave
statistics on education,
religion and their
language.. Isabel Airdrie
gave the modern story on
Tokyo. In 1888 Methodist
missionaries helped the
Japanese get into British
Columbia and she told of
a personal experience in
1942 at the Guelph
sanatorium when five
Japanese—girls--- earn e -oto
help there. ,

Lionsbikea-thon
helps renovations
Thirty: nine en-
thusiastic bikers headed
off on the 20 km ride for
the Londesboro Lions
bike-a-thon on June 14: '
All 34 returned and the
Lions were waiting with
free hot dogs and pop and
president Carl Nesbitt
made nine draws. Win-
ners of baseball gloves

Universtiy Hospital and
funeral services were
held at the Ball Funeral

Scott had celebrated her
100th birthday on May 28
and her family had been
life long residents of this,
community until retiring
to Clinton. Burial took
place in the Burn's
Cemetery in Hullett
Township.
