Exeter District Meeting. The Exeter district meeting of the Meth- odist church was held in the James.st Methodist churelCin Exeter, on the 22 and ,23rd inst. The Rev, , W. S. Pascoe 'D. Kennedy. of Crediton was eleetea tecretery, and Rev. &.W. Crass of Bryanston, and Rev. j. E. Holmes 'mini elected assistant secretaries. The business of the meeting was conducted with prompt- ness and despatch. On steiot examination all the minutes were found to be 'blameless in life, conversation and doctrine, James Hussar, of Grand Bend circuit a probation- er for the ministry, having travelled four year; the full terra of probation, and hav- ing satiefactorily completed his studies. was recommended to the ennnal conference to be received in full connection and ordain- ed. Report of membership shows that there are 2460 members on the district. Rev. Jas. Graham of Exeter was elected to the stationing committee and Rev. Wm. Penhall of Enneville to the S.S. committee. H. Bishop of Parkhill was elected to the conference missionary committee and W. ' J. Clark of Exeter to the conference S. S. committee. The intereets of the S. S. work are well looked after, and the work of the church generally is in good conditien. A vote of thanks was passed to the people of Exeter for their kindness in entertaining the members of the district meeting. The following motion was moved by the Rev. jas. Glabani, seconded by Rev. W. Quauce, whereas it appears probable that the Bev. Dr. Pascoe will be removed from this dis- trict at the close of the current conference year; resolved tbat the thanks of this district t • meeting is hereby tendered to Bro. Pascoe for the constitutional, efficient, and kind manner in which he has presided over the affeirs of the district and We also hereby express our best wishes for the continued health and prosperity of Bro. Goodwin, a neighbor, an open piano box buggy. It is supposed that both thefts were made •by the same parties. . Boys playing with firecrackers caus- ed Mr. S. Mossley, fernier, of London townsbip, a loss of $2;000 Thursday. A spark ignited a quantity of straw in in the barn and in an instant the evhole building was enveloped in flames. Mr. Monley had a large quantity of grain and machinery in the barn, and several head of live stock in the stable below. The former was a complete loss, and two cows were roasted alive.' The Reynolds Brothers were threat- ened to be dragged before the Police Magistrate last weak, for inviting a customer to come into their store out of the eain.
