Tuesday they took a trip to Storybook gardens with 21 children and 11 mothers attended. They left at 8:30 in the morning and after a tour of the gardens a ride on the merry go round a coloring book and , a Birthday Party,_• at McDonalds for Lisa Sherban. They returned home about 3:30 very tired but pleased. Thursday was the graduation ceremonies..at Nursery School. Mr. Ross of the Vanastra Public School was the guest speaker and he told the children a story and then presented the graduating class with their diplomas. They were Kim Embling, Linda Carrier-,:` Tracy Ferguson, Liza Gah- weiller, Shane Kyle, and Keith Ryan. _. Elaine, Sherban presented the graduates each with a gift. The junior class was given diplomas of achievement Diane Ryan presented Elaine, Sandy and Julie the three expecting mothers with gifts for themselves and their babies. A special gift was given to Jan Ferguaon for her help over the past two years and a thank -you gift was presented to Mr. Ross for doing the honours of the day. Mrs. Maloney and her kin- dergarten class also were present to help in the celebration. A barbecue was held afterwards and so ended another exciting morning in thea lives of our little people of the community. The staff of the Nursery School would like to thank all mothers who have Vanastra gets $500. from Exeter Exeter will contribute $500 towards the capital funding of the Vanastra recreation centre in Tuckersmith Township. In making the recommendation, Councillor Lossy Fuller of the social services committee noted that about three percent of the total users, or 48 people, are from Exeter. These are handicapped or senior's and the project being undertaken is to make the facility more accessible for these people. "We are fortunate to have such a centre so close to Exeter that we can share in . the usage of", Mrs. Fuller's committee noted in their written report. ""It would cost us a lot more to build this type of facility in our own municipality," com- mented committee member Al Epp. Councillor Don Cameron said it would be naive to think the town could supply all the services its citizens require wiithirt the con- fines of the municipality. smote. Parkinson's disease program is, beginning to catch on with three more mem- bers joining Tuesday afternoon activities. Anyone who has Parkinson's disease and is interested in the program, please phone 482-3544 Special events coming up in the near future at the centre are as follows: a special needs playday for mentally handicapped to be 1-1-.d,.on Friday, June 13, 1980; asenior citizens social to be held on Wednesday, June 18, 1980. All seniors are welcome andwe can promise a good afternoon of entertainment. It will that there is a meeting next Monday at 4:15 to practise for the fly -up teams taking part. Tire highlight of : the tourney should be on Sunday with the championship games as well as the C.F.P.L. televition team taking part. The Vanastra and district Lioness made a presentation of $1,000 to Robert Bell of Tucker - smith council toward jthe new addition fund at the Vanastra Rec. Centre. Some of our Lioness members, June, Betty, Cathy, Shirley and Joyce went to Seaforth lioness meeting on Monday night to retrieve their banner which the Seaforth club took. The Lioness are having a first attempt at running a dance on Sept. 20th. The theme is the 50's and it is also the Lioness' first anniversary, so come on out and help support them.
