Next week June 10 to 20
is Senior Citizens' Week
and in their honour we
reprint the following;
poem by ananonymous,
writer:
Hew old,are you?
Age is a, quality of mind,, ; t
ff' you have left your
dream's behind,
If hope is lost,
If you no longer look
ahead,
If your ambitions' fires
are dead _-
Then you are old.
But -if -from life you ._take
the best,
—And iThrIife-you--keep-- he
jest,
If love you hold—
No matter how the years
go by,
No matter how the bir-
thdays fly,
You are not old.

Superstitions
Superstitions ha‘,c been around for as long at the idea of luck Mo%t
people like to hase good luck and will do a`.anets of things to get
Because early people couldn't understand natural happenings their
minds invented all'sorts of creatures Some of these creatures
looked like animals that are on earth They liked to helieve them:
monsters caused the things they didn't understand
Superstitions began years and ears ago when primitive man
wanted to understand nature but eouldn't: To explain it early Man
,game living spirits to things that surrounded him, like water, trees,
and animals.
Even though.modern science has explained a Int of mysteries about
our world, people persist in believing in superstitions. Would you

other colonies in the
district for the first
"Beaveree" ever held in
•the area. Beavers were
unable to complete all the
activities planned for the
afternoon because of bad
weather but did manage
to share in a scavenger
hunt. All ' attending
Beavers received a badge
and a reminder to
parents that these are to
be worn on the jackets not
on uniforms.
The Colony wishes to
thank Garry Elliott, Rose
Edwards and Howard
Edwards for assisting
with transportation.
This outing was the
finale 'for the Beavers for
this season and a very
special thanks goes to
parents and all who
assisted in any way to
make our first year a
success.
The leaders wish the
Beavers a "safe sum-
mer" and "busy building
" for tomorrow.
