Mrs. Tom Cunningham opened the meeting with a poem, Mrstl. ' Leonard Archambault led in prayer. The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Lloyd Penfound. The financial 'statement. was given by Lions hold successful sale The Auburn and District Lions Club held its meeting in the Community Memorial Hall with the president, Lion Bill Crawfbrd, in the chair. Seventeen members were present and they were served dinner by the Auburn Presbyterian W.M.S. Bob Worsell, read the minutes The financial statement was given by treasurer, Lion Jim Schneider. He reported fhat the rum- mage and bake sale was a success. Club members wish- to express their thanks'to all those people who gave donations• to those two projects. It was announced that .the Auburn and District Lions Club would be participating in two local slo-pitch tournaments. Plans for the ladies' baseball tournament are proceeding well. The new officers for 1980-81 will be inducted at the first meeting in June. Ladies' night will be the last meeting in June. Many join church A large congregation filled Knox United Church in Auburn last Sunday for a special membership service. Twenty-two people joined the churchduring the service. Joining, on the profession of their faith by confirmation were: Jeff Armstrong, Janet Cook, Debbie Cun- ningham, Anita Hallam, Keith Hallam, Glenyce McClinchey, Patti McDowell, Wayne McDowell, Ron McDowell, Carol Seers, Nancy Verbeek, Darryl Wilson, Scott Wilson and Anna -Marie Young. Joining by transfer were Mrs. Ross (Shirley) Andrews, Mrs. Mark (Mary) Arthur, Mr. and Mrs. Teade, (Barbara) Bakker, Mrs. Bill (Darlene) Empey, Mrs. Orval (Val) McPhee and Mr. and Mrs. Ken (Shirley) Ramsay. The service watrunder the direction of the minister, Richard Hawley assisted by the Reverend Scott of Lon. desborb. The congregation was reminded that the service of baptism will be ob- served next week. June 15 will be a special service when the Auburn Sunday School will present the morning worship in honour of the 2000 anniversary of the Sunday Schools. Mrs. Joe Hunking donated a gift for the Dutch auction and the winner was Mrs. Garth McClinchey. Lunch was served by Mrs. Keith Lapp, Mrs. Ted Hunking and the hostess, Mrs. 1Vlarian Hunking.
