Mr. and Mrs. M. Winter of Sarnia are the groom's parents and the the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnston of Clinton. A friend of the bride, Cathy Aiken of Toronto was the maid of honor and Debbie _ and Nancy Johnston and Faye Chessell, sisters of the bride and Dorothylea Fabbri, a sister of the the groom also attended the bride. Duncan McKinley of Edmonton was the groom's best man and the ushers were John- For syhte, John Boersma, Bill Burgess and Dave Fabbri. -• — Fo.11owing the ceremony and dinner, a reception.were held at the Holiday Inn, Point Edward and after a trip to the west- coast, the couple made their home hi Sarnia. Prior to the wedding, the bride was honored by showers held by Cathy Aiken at her parents' • home in Clinton,. by Gwen Johnston of Clinton, Dorothylea Fabbri in Sarnia and by fellow employees of Bell Canada in Sarnia. ecret sisters revea The final meeting for the year of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority was held at the home of Reltha Kalokhe. All present answered, the roll call question, "Who do you think your secret sister was.this year?" Everyone seemed to have kept the "secret extremely wellas, most of the guesses . were 'com- pletely wrong. Rekha presented her program on India with a film on Festivals of India And- an exciting question and answer period on her homeland. Anyone in- terested learned "how to wrap a sari in one easy lesson." To celebrate the end of the season, everyone enjoyed wine and appetizers throughout the evening. During the business program the group Worldwide success for Leche League La Leche League started a new series at the home of Mrs. Stuart in Winghain on May 20 at_ 8 p.m. The topic of discussion was ,"The Advantages of Breast- feeding to Mother and Baby." Mrs. 'Stuart welcomed the mothers to her home. Then the mothers in- troduced themselves -and described ' their Mother's Day. Gifts from husbands and breakfast in bed were much appreciated on this: special day. Mrs. Barbara' Kerr, leader, talked about the beginnings of LLL with a group of seven , mothers getting together to discuss breastfeeding. There are now about 12,000 leaders in 44 countries so the help and encouragement of LLL to nursing - mothers has decided- to 'donate $150 to the Huron Day Centre for the 'Homebound and money to the Minton Public Hospital Heart Save program towards the purchase of films for the course. Two girls received their Ritual of Jewels degree', Marguerite Falcener °and Marilyn Parr. Two slates of , of - fleet's were installed to once again initiate two chapters. Then came the most exciting part of the evening when much - anticipated secret sister gifts were.exchanged and identities were revealed. Rekha then served a delicious international buffet with tacos, egg rolls, '' pizzas, Indian pudding and all the ac- coMpanirnen'ts. Secret sister names were .ex- changed for the up- coming year and farewells were said for the summer. Many "of the girls finished the year off on May 29 with dinner at the Ali Baba and attendance at the Avon Theatre presentation of Servant of Two Masters. The mothers discussed various topics of interest suchas bonding, breastmilk, and attitudes towards nursing. It was noted that a mother who wants to nurse her baby can, and the special relationship - during breastfeeding was so beneficial to mother and baby. This weekend four League members will be attending an Area Conference in Dundas to learn more about aspects of birthing, nursing, and - child -raising. The mothers were notified of a special program on TV about La Leche League, which will be shown on Channel 8 at 2:30 p.m. The meeting closed with a social time and refreshments. Friendship Guild Jamie Thompson was the guest speaker at the May 21 meeting of the Friendship_ Guild of St, Paul's Anglican Church in Clinton. He showed the ladies slides of his summer trip in Australia and was introduced by Kay Campbell and thanked by Jean Her- man. The ladies also took a brief trip around the world during roll call when each member 'showed a souvenir. Articles were brought as far away as California, Great Britain, Japan, the Cari_bbean' and the east and west coasts of Canada. Joan Thompson read the scripture lesson and Carold Edwards gave a devotional talk on fault finding. Eveyn Hudie reported - on the annual meeting of the Anglican Church Women which was held in London. The next meeting will be a pot luck picnic, to be held at the home of Almon Lobb on June 8. Cars will leave the .church. at 6 pm and members are asked to bring an article for the Huron Church Camp. Suggestions included used silver for the kit- chen, dressing cloths, books, crayons, yarn and buttons. Lunch was served by Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Herman. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Eckert Trip to Poconos Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Eckert have made their home in Wyoming, Ontario following their marriage on May 10 in Petrolia. The groom is the son of Mrs. Marie Eckert of Clinton and the bride, Karen, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cameron McLean of RR 3, Petrolia. 'Rev. Cecil Cunningham conducted the service held in the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and special music was sup- plied by Leslie Sonnichen at the organ and. Debbie Cameron and Lou Anne Moore as soloists. Nancy Metcalfe at- tended the. bride as maid of honor with Kathy Dobbin, Lynn Maitland and Susan Whitley as bridesmaids. Lori Walker was flowergirl and Bradley Lickmas was ,the ringbearer. John Major was the best man and Scott Mclean, Brian Johnston and ` David Eckert ushered the guests. Before the couple left on a hbrieymoon to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, a reception was held in the Wyoming Fair building.
