- Sailboat Races '
The fourth Spring
Series race was held on
June 1 with the single-
handed race following.
The 'MORC class ran a
course of 8.80 miles with
the winning boat posting
a time of 1:55.47. The top
four boats out of the 12
starters were: first,
Jackrabbit; second,
Incredible Hull; third, La
Barca and — fourth,
Farrari.
Six boats competed in
the PHRF class, running
a course of 8.75 miles with
the winner posting a time
of 2:06.04'. The top three
boats in this class were:
Felicity, Whisper and
Zephyrus.
The results for Sun-
day's race- in the IOR
class were not posted but
- following are the. results
from the previous three
races.
• On May 18, nine boats
competed. .in the IOR
section of the Spring
Series No. 1. Top
finishers were Seattle
Slewp, Paradox and
Scarlet Fever.
„ May.. 419, nine boats
again cdmpeted with the
top finishers in the Spring
Series No. 2 being: 1st,
Mover; 2nd, Paradox and
3rd, Frenzy.
In the third Spring
Series held on May 25, 10
boats competed with the
winning time being 96.62.
The top three were: 1st,
Paradox; 2nd, Mover and
3rd, Seattle Slewp.
Next Sunday, June 8 is
the fifth Spring Series,
the final race 'in the
opening series.
Goodtimes and
• Knighthawks win
Last Tuesday the
Goodtimes got on the
winning track 'by
defeating the Blue
Shadows 18-4 at the
Bayfield diamond.
Wednesday, the Babes
travelled to the Zurich
diamond for a game with
the Stanley Stars who
'surprised them., by a 15-5
score, handing the Babes
their first loss of the
season.
The same night the
Bayfield Flyers faced the
Stanley Steamers at the
Bayfield diamond, losing
by the ruthless score of
33-7,; in Men's Slo-pitch
play.
Thursday night it was a
squeaker, taking until the
bottom of the ninth in-
-ning , but the
Knighthawks kept their
winning streak alive,
downing the Zurich
Eagles, 15-14, on the
power of Tim West's
home run.
Last Sunday afternoon,
the Bayfield Flyers
opened up a big lead on
the Bayview Blue
Bombers by means of a
couple grand slam home
runs, but the Bombers
came back late -in the
game to grind out a 15-13
victory,
Monday night in
Bayfield, the Goodtimes
defeated the Varna ladies Mrs.- Dawna Westlake
in a'close game, by a score was hostess on Monday
of 7-6 to pick up their for a pot -luck luncheon
second win of the season. for the members of the

Sturgeon have returned
from their Stateside
honeymoon to take up
residence; Handy Randy
bought a new truck and a
lady that wishes to
remain nameless says
the only thing she did on
the weekend was cook a
turkey breast.
The village was sad-
dened by r the death of
Anna Scotchmer on
Saturday. Anna had been
in the hospital for many
weeks during a long
illness and had recently
undergone surgery. Our
sincere sympathy goes
out to the members of
Anna's family.
• Mrs. Thelma Utter was
in Simcoe last week to be
with her father on the
occasion of his 91st bir-
thday.
Holmesville
Last Sunday afternoon
