These were - collected from various students. They were put in an incubator in the grade eight classroom, where they waited for the eggs to hatch. On May 6 the eggs started to hatch and on May 7 all the eggs were hatched. They then were given to the grade five class to take home and raise. Band Goes to Clinton On Friday afternoon, May 16, our band members had the privilege of hearing an excellent band from Bay City, Michigan. This band is nctw playing . , in Goderich, but on Friday it was playing at the Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton. Our Gift band members were pleased to be able to hear such an excellent band. Rummage Sale Dn THttrsday, May 15, at 11:30, our school held a rummage sale in the auditorium. Each day that week - students brought in toys, books and many other things. There was also popcorn that one grade 5 class made. Class represen- tatives sold the items to each class as they came in. Over $100.00 was raised for the school fund. Disecting FIsh , On Friday, May 9 the grade 8 class disected fish for science. They fried them. and ate them for .lunch after disecting them. We would -like to thank Penny Overboelor bringing in the fish. We would also like to thank Bob Johnston for helping the grade eights with the tree planting. to 1938. Sympathy is extended to his, wife .:and niece Eleanor Hudson • Mrs. Jack Armstrong was admitted to Seaforth hospital on May 13 where she is undergoing tests. Hazel Reid, Beth Knox and Vietta ,Hoggart en- joyed a bus trip on May 12 to the Milton Agriculture Museum. The trip was sponsored by the Blyth Women's Institute and they also visited a shoe outlet in Kitchener and the Conestoga Shopping Mall in Hespler. Mrs. and Mrs. Jack Lee attended the wedding of his brother William Donald Lee and Kathryn June Tompkins at the Brucefield United Church on May 17. A reception was held at Vanastra. Norman Alexander, delegate to the Huron - Perth Presbytery at- tended a conference in London from May 13 to 15. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Trick were Mr. and Mrs. John Sanderson of RR 1, Blyth, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Trick , Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Snaderson of Over 179 area people gave the "Gift of Life" last Thur- sday at a Red Cross Blood Donor clinic in Clinton. Leader I-el.on Lawson began the evening with e, reading and roll call was answered by 15 members and 12 visitors. Dora Shobbreok read the minutes and correspondence included thank you notes from Bob and Shirley Scott and girls, Marion Letherland, Ida Durnin, the group's. foster child and from the Ex World Day of Prayer for the UCW's. $35.$0 of- fering. A note of ap- preciation was,. .also received from Doreen Carter for the Flowers cf Hope. It was agreed to .donate $25 to the South Huron District Association for the Mentally Han- dicapped, Laura Lyon gave the treasurer's report and the general report was. given by Edythe Beacom. Reverend Scott began the evening with grace and Brenda Nesbitt thanked the ladies for preparing • the meal. Cheryl Bromley and Brenda Nesbitt presented gifts to Shirley Hulley and Joan Hoggart from the Explorers and • Mrs. Hoggart welcomed everyone. The flowers on - the tables were donated by the Kitchen Cupboard in Blyth. Margaret., Wright graduated the third year girls, Cheryl Bromley, Sandy Carter, Connie Hoggart, Brenda Nesbitt and Angela Schneider. Each —girl received -'d- `sr" diploma, a pin and small gift plaques. Sandy Carter presented Mrs. Wright with a gift. Reverend Scott presented .12 girls with perfect attendance gifts and Connie'Hoggart was M.C. for the program. Darien Hulley played a piano solo, Lori Bromley sang a solo. and Deanna Lyon and Lisa Bosnian performed a number, accompanied by Barbara Bosman. Cheryl Bromley and Brenda Nesbitt step - danced and members of the school band, Sandy Carter, Angela Schneider, Cheryl Bromley and Brenda Nesbitt played a number. Reverend and Mrs. Scott sang two songs and everyone joined in the chorus. Margaret Taylor was the guest speaker and she talked about her European trip and Crystal Whyte presented witlra--gift. Mrs. Hoggart thanked Mrs. Taylor, Reverend and Mrs. Scott and the girls for making a banquet a success and the evening ended with the EXplorer song with Mrs. Scott playing her guitar. Infants baptised The Londesboro United Chruch was filled on Sunday for the morning service and baptism of four infants: The congregation was greeted by Harry Snell and Jack Tamblyn and the ushers were Laurel Duizer, Elizabeth Lawson, Dianna Shob- brookand Sally Pollard. Reverend S,eott an- nounced that this Sunday, Reverend Stewart Miner of - Ashfield - will be the guests minister and the ham supper would be held on May 22 (tonight). A family swim will be held at the Vanastra Recreation Centre this Sunday from 4:30 to 5:30 pm and a pot luck supper will follow at 6:30 pm. Margaret Whyte, the clerk of the session in- vited parents and their children to Reverend Scott for baptism and each was accompanied by a church elder. The children who were baptised included: Joesph Arthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Aridrie, with elder Lorne Hunking; Katharine Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Hazlett, elder Jack Lee; Debra Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey--Hoggart, elder Reg Lawson; Jeffrey Todd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston, elder Robert Hunking; Amanda Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brad Kennedy, elder Bert Shobbrook; Karen Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Trick, elder Garnet Wright. The junior teachers for the Sunday School classes were Sally Pollard, Mrs. Murray Howatt and Mrs. Murray Sheppard.
