A bridal shower was
held for Nancy Salverda
following the May 7
meeting of the Burns
United Church Women at
the home of Ida and Betty
Salverda.
Nancy was the
recipient of many lovely
gifts at the shower.
Gladys Leiper read the
address, and several
contests were conducted
by Ida Leiper.
Mrs. Rice was in
charge of the business
meeting and the roll call
was answered by a Bible
verse. The treasurer's
report was given by Jean
Leiper.

Township holds
court - of revision
At their May 5 meeting,
Hullett Township council
held a court of revision on
the Vincent Drainage
Works and awarded the
tender for the project to
Roth, Drainage at a price
of $11,950. Coldstream
Conrete will s'pply the
material on the drain at a
price of $8,395.24.
Council agreed to
purchase catch basins
and junction boxes from
Fletcher Tile Ltd. at $40
per grate and $25 per foot
on catch basins.
A bylaw to provide for
drainage works in Hullett
was given a third reading
and passed by council.
The bylaw authorizes the

folk musical about living
the Christian life.
The choir was ac-
companied by piano,
guitars, ukuleles and
recorders. Mr. Scott was
the narrator.

A run-off tank for Rick
Archambault was given
council's approval and no
top is needed _ providing
that the cattle feedlot is a
dry manure set-up. A 10
foot fence is to be con-
structed around the tank
and the building in-
spector will point out to
Mr. Archambault that he
is building the tank on
another person's
property.
A `dbnation of $50 was
made to the Huron
Plowman's Association
and it was decided to pay
Mrs. Ken Williams $5 for
500 Norway Spruce trees.
R. Hunking was hired
to. look after the grass
cutting at the township
cemeteries. He will be
paid $3.65 per hour
The tender of Pollard
Bros. was accepted to
provide and supply liquid
calcium chloride at
$118.25 per flaked ton
equivalent.

grounds. It is sponsored
by the recreational
committee and the
Londesboro Lions Club.
Hullett
Happenings
The Grade 8 class went
tree planting on May 5
and May 7. They went
planting at Peter Hardy's
' and also at Belgrave. The
Grade 8 class planted
2,000 trees to raise money
for the graduation trip to
Toronto. Overall they had
a fun and educational
time.
Health Nurses
' On May 7 and May 9 the
Huron County Health
nurses gave the r .par-
ticipating students a
fluoride cavity treat-
ment. The nurses have
visited several schools
administering this
treatment. They also
teach the Grade 6 class
the use of dental floss. We
thank the nurses for their
help with the fight
against cavities.
Farm Safety
On May 8 and 9 Con-
stable Hassall came to
our school to talk with
students about farm
safety. Everyone
gathered in the
auditorium to watch a
film .entitled, Play it Safe.
Then he talked to each
class separately. He
discussed the dangers of
farm machinery and
what measures should be
taken to prevent ac-
cidents. It was a very
worthwhile topic seeing
that so many of the pupils
live on farms.
Circus trip
On May 2 the Grade 1
and kindergarten class
went to the Garden
Brothers circus in Kit-
chener. They saw many
kinds of . animals and
enjoyed drawing pictures
of them later. They had
an excellent time at the
circus.
