Big Brother's .
formal report
Well, another in-
teresting week has gone
by and here I am to
report it.
Last Saturday night
(formal night), SB (14A),
famous for losing his
pants, kept custody of his
trousers but lost his
girlfriend to a group of
kidnappers. It took S.
until 6 a.m. to find the
forlorn girl who was
partying with her ab-
ductors.
The -administration is
running a vast and
thorough check on all
people who .buy Pink
paint in Huron County.
The phantom and his
brush were at it again
last weekend on the
cafeteria wall. Unfor-
tunately the wall was
removed. MJB (Grade
12) had an extremely
interesting Saturday
night. When last seen, her
companions had Krazy
Glued her into her chair
to prevent her from
hurting herself when she
fell.
RB (13A) was con-
tinuously interrupted in
his candlelight and pizza,
dinner. It seems he had
. trouble concentrating on
romance with a party in
, his living room and
fireworks display in his
bird bath.
D.L. is confused -again.
It'seem's that in Physics
550, D was under the
impression that mickies
are to be smoked. Now
, who would smoke a .cute
little mouse.
,As a final note, we must
mention that KM (13A)
was last seen, "sewed"
into a red dress.
That's all for now, but
remember Big Brother is
always watching.

women in most areas of
the golfing world from
touring or teaching pros
right through to
clubhouse management
and equipment con-
sulting.
Women can be just as
skillful as men even
though they lack the
physical strength. It's not
--always the brute strength
that wins in golf. Women
are very suited to golf
►because of their natural
flexibility and balance,
both important to a good
golf swing.
Often women improve
at a much faster rate
than men. This could be_,
because most women
choose to take a few
lessons before taking to
the course. Men feel they
just need some equip-
""ment, then off they go to
join their friends. These
beginning lessons are a
great help to many
women and of course,
they would be just as
helpful to most men.
Many times men can be
seen frowning and
grumbling when they see
a group of women ahead
of them on the course.
They can moan as much
as they like but it is a
known fact that even
though women often take
more strokes, they play
faster. Women tend to use
up much less time lining
up their putts, taking
practice swings and so
on.
Sorrre' women feel
inhibited when playing
with• men or even being
on ,the course when there
are a lot of men golfing.
Remember that in many
cases women are just as
skillful as their male
counterparts just lear-
ning the game. As long as
you observe the rules and
proper etiquette you have
no reason to feel out of
place on the golf course.
In no time you'll develop
the necessary skills to
play a 'good and
respectable game.
Spending your liesure
time on the golf course
provides you with fresh
air, exercise and a
chance to set goals and
compete against yourself
and others. Not only that,
you can also enjoy the
social side of golf by
playing with friends or
participating in ladies'
days, tournaments and
visits to other clubs.
Many women play golf
regularly, making it a.
part of their summer
routine. During the
spring and fall while the
kids are at school and the
course is quiet, is a great
time to golf. For those
who work, the long
summer evenings
.provide a good time to
play a round. There is
usually some time when
you can fit a relaxing
round of golf into your
routine.
we can't fill your request
right away, we'll,,get it as
fast as possible.

Capital punishment supported
By Shelley McPhee
Clinton council has supported a
resolution from the Waterloo
Regional Board of Police Com-
mission, asking the federal govern-
ment to reinstate capital punshiment
for those found guilty of killing a
police officer or prison guard.
Council considered tiie resolution at
their May 5 meeting which is also
asking the -federal government 'oto
cease granting stays of execution.
Councillor Rob Parr agreed with
the Motion and said that‘the cabinet
shouldn't be allowed to commute
sentences:
Councillor Ron McKay explained,
"Capital pun, islirnent should be all or
nothing," and said it should apply to
all murders, not only policemen or
guards.
Councillor Parr noted that capital
punishment was limited until it was
just used in police murders and he felt
that it should come back following the
same route, beginning with the police.
Councillor George Rumball said he
had mixed feelings on the issue and he
questioned its use only for police and
prison guard murders. He suggested
that corporate punishment be used
more and explained the old method of
punishment by hitting with a paddle.
He said, "This makes them think for
awhile."

Councillor 'Parr suggested that the
absense of capital punishment may be
the reason why the police are using
their guns more and explained; "They
have less control and less defense
now."
In other business, council made ka
donation of $668.45 to the Tuckersmith
Township Day Care Centre. The
donation is .Clinton's share for using
the facilities in 1979. •
A task force to study the future of
the railways has been formed in
Ontario. In a Letter, the committee
asked for council's comments on the
train service.
Reeve Royce Macaulay suggested
that the passenger train service be
' put back in service in the area. He
noted that now access to the closest
passenger trains is in Stratford. He
felt that with the fuel shortage, a train
running through this area would be
used more.
It was agreed to see if Huron County
council is preparing a report on the
rail service and council thought that
area municipalities could make a
joint presentation.
The town has been given permission
to demolish an old CNR building. The
building houses town owned weigh
scales which could be used at the
Ciinton fairgrounds.
made four connections to
complete the circular
chain. Unfortunately,
each opening and closing
took seven minutes for
each connection. Four
connections of seven
minutes duration is 28
minutes. This made him
five minutes late for next
class. DETENTION!!
Could thestudent.find a,
faster way to make the
circular chain? Would he
be ' on time for his next
class? (ASSUME: (1)
that no time is wasted
between operations, (2)
he has no one else helping
him, (3) he cannot per-
form two simultaneous
operations, (4) he does
not bribe -the teacher of
his next class, and (5)

Last week, we told you
a tale of Lake Huron land
shaped like a triangle.
The lake boundary was
100 metres long. The
other sides were 50
metres 'each. You may
notice that we gave you
an impossible triangle.
Senior students may use
cosine law, Heron's
formula andfieometry to
;prove this. All you need to
know is that the shortest
distance between two
points is a line. Which is
the shortest distance: the
100m boundary on the
lake, or the two 50m sides
:on..: the .. land?.T It_...woutii....
appear, then, that all
there is to the property is
a line, A line has length,
but no width, hence we
cannot _ have any area,
and the "land" costs
nothing.
Or so you think. Can
you find anything wrong
with this answer? Watch
this space, too! If you
think you can see the
error, send it to the
Chronicle.
