There is a petition.being circulated to repeal the Tuckersrnith township school board and to have the town- ship divided into sections and each section appoint their own trustees and engage their own teacher, as in the old section system. This petition was circulated and voted upon last year, but without success. At Orillia, on Monday last, a by-law for raising $15,( 00 by de bentures for the purpose of completing the elec- tric light and waterworks system was carried by a majority of 52. And at St. Slarys the same day a by-law to grant a bonus of $30,000 for the re. rooval of the Maxwell Manufacturing • Company's works from Paris, Ont,, to St. Marys was carried by a majority of 401 majority, only 31 votes being poll- ed against it. The Stratford Herald tells this story : —Mrs. Clarke, an eighty-year- old lady, and wife ot Mr. Wm. Clarke, who resides near the water -works, has for a number of years been wholly de. prived of the sight of one eye.
