recreation associations
as they have not
requested any specific
amounts tfii's year, but
Tuckersmith has asked
them to donate to its
reconstruction work at
Vanastra.
".Perhaps we should
wait to give them grants
when we see what they
give," remarked one
member of council.

Lioness
On April I7,. the
Vanastra A and District.
Lioness held their
business meeting at the
Ree. Centre, A form of
Chinese auctiomwas held,
where the ladies bid on
various items, and the
money will be used to
help .cover the cost. of
their trip to the Leader

A workshop was held
last Saturday; April 12, at
the Rec Centre, when the
Lioness served 40 people.
On April 19,, the Lioness
held another rummage
sale at the rec centre, but
with various other ac-
-ltivities..going ..on_. -in -_the
area, attendance was
down, but our Lioness
would like to thank these
people that did turn out to
helpsupport our club.
Nursery School
Although our. Lioness
sale was not as fruitful on
Saturday, our nursery
school craft table was a
great success,enough
money was made to send
the children to Lion's
Safari, with enough left
over for a graduation in
June. A further report on
that as the date draws
nearer.
Brownies
-On Monday, April 21,
our brownies met at the
church. After their
opening, a special thank -
you song was rehearsed
for ---their- -mother---and»
daughter banquet, which
will beheld June 2.
A -reminder to
Brownies: have your
dinner amoney, in for this
as soon as possible. The
price is $3,50 for mothers
and x$2.60 for daughters.
There , will. be no
Brownie meeting on. April
28, with this day being
professional development
day at the school.

Teen Dance
Remember, this Friday
night a teen dance will be
held at the Rec Centre
from 8:30 p.m. to 11:.30
p.m.
Heather Gardens bingo
On Monday, April 21, a
bingo was held at
Heather Gardens and the
first share -the -wealth of
$26 went to Susan Wagler
with Ken Hall winning $5
for the Red Cross.
The second share -the -
wealth was won by Mrs.
Govenlick with Alice
Jackson winning $5.00 for
the letter "X".
The jackpot of $150 was
won by Millie Hanley.
The next Bingo will be on
Monday, April 28, star-
ting at 8 p.m. Admission
- is $1 per person., 16 years
of age and over.

Tuckersmith township
road superintendent
Allan Nicholson was
authorized last week by
council to attend a
seminar in Waterloo on
April 16 on cement work
as affecting bridges. He.
reported that about 50
road signs had been
removed or damaged.
Council approved a tile
drainage loan for $9,000.
Stanley Township will
spray weeds for
Tuckersmith at $22 per
hour. The Vanastra
Curling Club' is in-
vestigating building a
new rink.
Council discussed and
approved most of the
grants it will give this
year. The three
agriculture societies in
the township will each
receive $150, up from $125
last year; Hensall-South
Huron; Seaforth and
Huron Central -Clinton.
The Mental Health
Association was given $25
again this year, also the
'Salvation Army of
London received $25 and
the Huron Plowmen's
Association'$50..
The Federation of
Agriculture was given
$7Q0 again this year and
the Tuckersmith 4-H
Clubs will receive $164 so
that each of the 41
members will receive $4
each. The Blyth Centre of
the Arts will receive $25
as will St. John
Ambulance of Seaforth.
The Vanastra
Recreation Centre will be
given a grant of $600
because as Deputy Reeve
Bell said, "It's right that
the rest of the township
pay toward it," and
Councillor Frank
Falconer stated, "We're
Picking up the deficit for
it anyway, if it doesn't
pay, we (the whole
township) pay it."
The grant to , the
Segforth Community
Hospital was dropped this
year for the fars I"rte in
many years. Last year it
received $200. "Leave it
out," Councillor Falconer
said, "Clinton does not
;receive any.- (no
representative from
Tuckersmith sits on the
`Clinton Hospital board
but the township has had
a representative on the
Seaforth Hospital board
for years. Presently it is
Cleave Coombs of
Egrnondville.
The Vanastra Lions
Club will be given a grant
when they ask for it, last
year they received $275.
Seaforth Lions. will
receive $360 again this
year to be used for the
wealth of ' wa.s, wonp

Our principal was
asked to speak to the
Community Association
this past Tuesday
evening,
Kindergarten
visitations start today,
Thursday, April 24, and
one day each week for the
next month or so their
parents will register
them for next year's.
