Goderich PUC ups water rates GODERICH - A $25,000 deficit, increased salaries and the proposed new water tower has forced the Goderich PUC to raise their water rates. Effective July 1, Goderich water users will be paying another $1.50 per month. The 23.08 per cent in- crease will help cover last year's deficit in operational water costs and increased salaries. Part of the money from the rate increase ,will go towards the new water tower reserve fund. PUC manager Al Lawson told the com- missioners that the PUC, "is missing the boat itt water works. We're giving it away." Mr. Lawson said that Goderich's water rates are lower than rates in other towns. Exeter; for example, charges $1506 bi-monthly for wjter while Goderich charges $13. The Inorase will bring the cost to $16 bi- monthly. Goderich's increase will bring in an extra $80,831 this year to the PUC. Of this, $26,933 will go to the .tower reserve fund.
