The president, Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson gave the call to worship followed by the hymn, "All the way my Saviour leads me". After welcoming everyone, she gave the, devotionalperiod with the scripture lesson, Mark 8th chapter, verses 1 to 18 read alternately. Her meditation was on the theme, "What do you see?" followed by prayer. The rollcall was an- swered_ by_ a Bible _verse_ containing the word -See, Mrs. Lillian Letherland gave the summary of two missionaries in Taiwan - the Reverend and Mrs. John E. Geddes who have been in the field for 18 years and the Reverend Bernard L.M. Embree of Summerland, B.C. who is also working in that country: She told about their work and their hopes of serving for several more years. The offering was received by Mrs. Frances Clark and dedicated with prayer by. Mrs. San- derson. The minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Lillian Letherland. Correspondence was read and the members were reminded that the London Synodical will be held at Brantford Central Presbyterian Church on April 22 and 23 and Huron Presbyterial will be held in Goderich on ay 14 at 1:30 p.m. in God rich. illage news and notes The treasurer, , Mrs. Frances Clark, gave the financial statement. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turner visited last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Len Mann, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Turner at Strathroy. They also visited in London with their daughter, Miss Lynn Turner and at Dorchester with Mrs. Jack Baker and family. Winners at -the weekly euchre party in the Auburn Community Memorial Hall last week were: novelty - Jack Hallam; high lady - Mrs. Wilfred . Sanderson; low lady - Mrs. Jack Lockhart; high man - Robert Armstrong; and low man - Jim Bennett. There were 11 tables in play. Winner of the Auburn - and District Lions Club lottery last week was Lloyd -Walsh of Blyth with ticket number 430:, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Haggitt and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Brown of Goderich attended .the funeral last Monday of their brother-in-law, the - late Beverley H. French of St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Mrs. Tom Jardin at- tended a special service last Sunday at Wingham United Church when gifts were dedicated in memory of the late Mr. G.W. Tiffin. She visited with Mrs. Tiffin and family after the service. Silver Tops hold dinner The Auburn Silver Tops held their dinner last Wednesday at noon. After the delicious turkey dinner served to 48 persons, the president, Ross Robinson, con- ducted a short meeting. The financial statement was given by the treasurer, Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock. Bus trips were discussed and more in- formation will be coming at a later date. The secretary,' Mrs. Thomas Haggitt reported she had several trips that will be available. Anyone in- terested, please contact Mrs. Haggitt or the president, Ross Robin- son. Shuffle board and euchre were enjoyed for the afternoon. Ladies lose broomball game Auburn ladies" broomball team went down to defeat 2 - 1 to the Blyth Baintonneers in a very close game last week. The Auburn team a enjoyed their best season ever by upsetting Belgrave two straight in the semi-finals. They went•the full five games in the finals. Team members were Betty Bromley, Teresa Bromley, Debbie Dale, Linda Dougherty, Shirley Dougherty, Brenda Finlayson, Cathy Fisher, Gwen Fisher, Cathleen Foran, Margaret Foran, Rosemary Foran, Linda Hakkers, Phyllis Hickey, Doreen Jefferson, Mary Ellen Sturdy, Ellen Thompson and Dawn Westbrook. Bill Sproul was the manger. • Congratulations on a fine season. Summerhill Ladies meet The April 9 meeting of the Summerhill Ladies Club was held at Betty Battey's home. Sandra Westerhout opened thea, meeting by reading twoi. short poems entitled "April" and "Romance". Thirteen members an- swered the roll call by telling their ancestry. The minutes were read and adopted and Lorna Ellis gave the treasurer's report. A donation was sent to the Red Cross and a letter was read inviting seniors ancl volunteers to attend the Itaining school to be held at the Day Care Centre at Huronview on May 7. Thank -you cards were received from Jean Vodden, Norman Wright and Ken Ellis. Plans were finalized for the dessert euchre to be held at the hall on April 30 at 1:30 p.m. The Hall Board Committee an- nounced a card party and dance to be held at the hall on April 18 at 8:30 p.m. The music for darning to be suppli''- by "The Mystery Trig;" Vera. Gibbings won the, raffle he- raffle and conducted a contest won by Phyllis Tyndall. Gladys 'Van Egmond -- played several spring songs on the organ and Sandra Westerhout guessed the most correct titles. Vera Gibbings con- ducted several games of bingo, the winners being Sandra Westerhout, Gladys Van Egmond, Isabel Stewart, Jane Van Spengen, :Olive Neal, Marion Colclough and Margaret Wright. A card was. received from Piet and Allie Westerhout from Kenya, Africa where they have been vacationing. The next meeting will be at Lorna Ellis' home and the Lunch and program will be handled by Ruth Jenkins, Olive Neal and Olive Penfound. The roll call will be an exchange of plants. Large turnout for HiironPerth party A large turnout enjoyed a . card party held at Brodhagen last Thursday sponsored by the Association of Agricultural Societies for Huron and Perth Counties.
