With teachers Helen Latimer-, Annie Johnston ..and Lee Ann Veysey guiding, the tots busied themselves constructing Easter baskets. When the arts and crafts ° were completed everyone gro e :1 11 the story Mother` Rabbit's Son Tom.' While listening to . the story they thought they heard a rustling noise in the Main Library that t conies t sounded; a lot like the Easter )3unny. And sure enough, when the story teller wound up her yarn, 16 pairs of feet paddled into the next room for an Easter Egg hunt. A letter was received from a Lioness- Club' in Green. Castle,, Penn*, sylvania requesting that the group "beeornel their sister club and Michigan. The have been invited to tour the city and share a pot -lucky dinner. Those unable to attend are asked to area -nam by the end of this month. After the business was discussed a Dutch Auction' was held with Elsa Gemeinhart as auctioneer: A heartfelt wish is sent to one of our most valuable Lioness members, Anna Scot- chrner The meeting was brought to an end by Mrs. Huntley. The Lioness executive meeting will be held on April 21 core The Bayfield club agreed to the arrangement, On May 13 the Lioness Club is going on a bus trip to visit a sister Lioness Club in Cass City, II II • the. El E D by Gvken Pemberton and Bud Sturgeon) bugle Round and about the village Mr. and Mrs. Walter, Turner and their daughter Wendy "had as guests for dinner on Saturday evening of Easter .weekend Debbie. and Dave Fawcett and children, Michelle and Mark of London. Their son Stewart and his wife Kathy of Goderich Township were also present at the family dinner. Brigadier and Mrs. Fred Clift have returned to-- their Bayfield home "Clifton" after a holiday of 12 weeks which they spent on the island of Montserrat. • - Mr. and l.Vlrs. Bill Milne had as Easter weekend guests their son and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Ken Milne of London with their five children, Kelly, Kenny, Kim, John and Scott. Doreen Brennan of 'Toronto was also a guest of the Milnes. Prof. George Kirk who taught at the University of Toronto until his retirement was a mid- week-guest id-weekguest of Chris and Kathleen Gowers at The Little Inn. Prof. Kirk is a relative of Kathleen. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hopper have returned to their home on Howard Street after spending the winter at Springhill, Florida about 40 miles from Tampa on the Gulf side. Helen reports that Springhill is a very pleasant place which reminded them of Bayfield; nevertheless they were glad to be back home in the village. Mrs. Emma Curtis of St. John's, Newfoun- dland, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Keilior on route to her home from Florida where she was on holiday for several weeks.. Mrs. Curtis is Flo Keillor'r- mother and Flo's friends are finding her to be a delightful and en- tertaining guest whom they hope will return to Bayfield again soon. Mr. Bill Parker visited with his sons and their families last weekend. His .son, Bob's home is in Dorchester and Bill lives in London. Bill and Ruth Latimer and baby Amanda of Weston Ontario were Easter weekend guests of Mrs. Ethel Knight. While in Bayfield they also visited with Gil and Helen Latimer. Gary and Edna Hulley of Paris, Ontario were at their most westerly cottage on Howard Street for the weekend. spent the Easter holiday in Bellville with her family while there she attended her sister's wedding. Mr. Jim Hannaberry (fisherman ex- traordinaire) of St. Marys popped in to visit Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sturgeon a couple days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Grant of Kitchener were at their cottage on Howard Street for the ° weekend. Tom Kelly of- London, winner of this year's Bayfield Lions River Break -Up Contest has donated 1/2, of the .$200 prize money back to the Lions Club. Dr. and Mrs. Neilsen, Greg and Emily, Doug Seneshen and Jan Faulkner all of London spent the weekend at their Euphemia Street cottage and also their. Sunset Lane cottage north of the village. The Stedman family of London vacationed for a few days at their Jane Street residence. Ken and Bobbie Hulley again weekended at their Tuyll.Street cottage. Residents around Clan Gregor Square were treated to the live music of a rock and roll band on Saturday afternoon. n Waun Walt and Sandy and family of Strathroy visited with Paul and Connie West on Sunday. The Howard Street "Moleman" was one wrecked human over the weekend as he and brother Tinbanger of Toronto filmed another scene of the movie "Moons Over Bayfield" starring "Fifty" the beagle. The commercial fishing season which began late this year suffered a minor setback as the lake ice moved over the fishing grounds where the nets had been set last week. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Stevens of Cantin House, -near Zurich, formerly of the Ancient Mariner in Bayfield are almost ready for their move to Victoria, B.C." Mrs. D. Deller, Kerry "Peaches the Shepherd" of Goderich, was the holiday guest of "Maggie the Mutt- . Bayfield, over on Jane Street. First timers Crystal and Veronica Huffman of Bayfield, each managed to land a cohoe salmon"" down at the South Pier last weekend. Of course the girls were ably assisted by the "Stick- man" who let his get away, which is not, unusual. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dowler of London were at their Main Street residence for Easter. The Captain was busy toiling on the Shawanaga in between rainstorms. Spring must be here. Judy Gilpin of the River Hotel Apartments .1. and Scott of Brampton were Easter visitors in the home of Mrs. N. Haw and also -.visited with Mr. and Mrs. Don Haw while in Bayfield. Mr: and Mrs. Fred Heard of Stratford visited with the Haw and Russell Heard families. Mr. and Mrs. Don ,Turner, Hamilton, were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Russell Heard, before leaving on a vacation with their daughter Mrs. Don McArthur, her husband and family in Vancouver. Sgt. Stan and Mrs. Smith and Lisa of North -Bay visited with her parents Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Larsen. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Diemert, Karen and Noelle Hamilton all of St.,. Marys visited with the formers family, Mr: and Mrs. Floyd Diemert, Wayne and Rick. Mrs. Lena Ervine travelled to Milverton to Easter with her family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meyer, Michelle and Marsha. Miss ,Sally Bennett of London vacationed with her parents Rev. and Mrs. William M. Bennett in Bayfield. Jim and • Barbara Robinson and children Chuck,and Adam of Jon Peterborough holidayed with Mrs. Myrtle Robinson of Bayfield for Easter weekend, Also visiting during the weekend were George and Diane Smale of Grosse Point Farms. Joe and Margie Laudenbach of Agincourt opened up their Victoria Street cottage this weekend. . Mrs. John Graham of Wallacetown visited with son and family Mr. and Mrs. Pat Graham, John and Nancy. Mrs. Myrtle Pease and Irvin of London were in Bayfield for Easter. • -Mr. and Mrs. Walter Erickson attended the "Wedding and reception of Allan and Sandy MacDonald in Ripley on Saturday last. Bayfield residence over the Easter weekend. Mt. and Mrs. Ed Rowse, London were guests of Mrs. Beulah Smith on the.weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scotchmer Rob, Lori and Carolyn of Chatham were at their village residence for Easter weekend. Friday guests of Mrs. Bertha Turner were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilkinson. On Saturday Mrs. Dave Fawcett and children visited with their grandmother and on Sunday Mrs. Turner was visited by Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Turner of New Serum and Mr. and Mrs. John Turner and daughter of St. Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Murney and Terri of Clinton ,were guests, of Mrs. Sadie, Murney, on Easter Sunday. Mrs. Dorothy Weston visited her brother in Detroit and friends in Alganac Michigan on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Matt Nediger spent Easter Sunday with relatives in Clinton. Mrs. Helen Owen visited with her son and daughter-in-law in Ottawa. Mr. and Mrs. John Pounder, Kyrstie and Shane of St. Catharines and Miss Mary Pounder of London visited with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pounder at their Keith Crescent residence on the weekend. Mr. • Elmer Huffman, this past weekend, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Huffman, Crystal and Veronica. 4-H'ers plan last they The fifth meeting of the Bayfield I Daffy's Decorators was held on March 26 at Sturgeon's place. — Jo Anne explained what we were to do for Achievement Night. Achievement Night is April 24th at 7 _p,m. at the Clinton Public School. We then got- together to discuss what -tee were going to put on our exhibit and who was to do what. We discussed our .bedrooms and how to choose . accessories for our.roorris, such; as plants and dried 'fid' artificial flowers can help decorate our rooms too. Pictures can decorate the walls as well. We worked on ou'r record books to keep them up to date. by Jayne Sturgeon. T e sixth meeting of the Daffy Decorators was held on April 3 at Jo Anne's place. Jo Anne told us our books had to be finished and handed in to her before April 8. Everything has to be completed and our samples done to. (photo by Bud Sturgeon) Special music at Baptist services The true meaning of Easter Was brought out in the special- music at the Bayfield Baptist Church in both.. services on Sunday, through solos by Miss Elva Keep, visiting here from the 'London Baptist Seminary. Our own Mrs. Cathi Cullen sang two solos, each blending so beautifully with the messages brought by the Pastor, Rev. Les Shiel, assisted by -Mark Nicholson. The Pastor used Revelation, chapter 1, for the morning ser- vice, stressing that Jesus does have victory over death and hell and if we accept Him as Saviour, He will receive us in spite of our sins. • . The evening service was around the Com- munion table, as it is found in 1st Corinthians, Chapter 11, where Jesus commands "This do in remembrance. of Me". Mrs: Cathi •-Cullen played the organ 'andr Mrs. Muriel , Snider, was the pianist. Mt. Asa Steckle and Mr. Doug Talbot were ushers and Mrs. Stella Shiel, Mrs. Sandra Talbot, Mrs. Phyllis Nicholson, Mrs. Lillian Steckle, Miss Elva Keyes and Miss Debbie Talbot took care of the wee ones in the nursery and also the large number in the junior congregation. It was a delight i to see the incr-eased numbers attending the Sunday School and to welcome the many visitors and friends. The annual Women's Missionary Rally is to be held in the Church, -Tues., evening, April 15 at 8 p.m. Euchre ends The Euchre Club met last Wednesday night in the municipal building. Plans were made for the club dinner on April 16 at 6 p.m. in the Community Centre. This will be the last meeting until November. Eight : tables of euchre ° kere played and the ladie ' high went to Mabel Reid; low, to Clara Wilson; men's high was won by Frank McClin- chey ; low, by Mat Nediger. Lone hands went to Margaret Dowson. with the guest speaker, Mrs. Benn from London. This will be a very ex- citing meeting with several other church W.M.S. groups attending. All the ladies of the community are welcome.
