Let's deal tint with the donations our Branch' has made in therpast reek. First of "all, ,$100 was given to the Westminister VeteransWing mobile canteen fund, These funds assist in giving hospitalized veterans but trips to interesting_places in our southwestern Ontariot area. Secondly, a $200 donation towards the dialysis machine cen- tered at Westrninister Hospital, Veterans Wing. • Thirdly, two wheelchairs - *ere g -i ven to our Huronview centre, on behalf of our branch by poppy chairman George • Rumball and pro Iohn Deeves. AU these donations were made from funds derived from our Poppy Drive which we have each year, and are largely frotn the public's generosity at our annual .poppy drive. In sports, the district cribbage 'tournament, which was held at the Paisley Brancb, last Saturday afternoon, proved to be a Clinton Legion success story. Coming home with the District Trophy was a team composed of John Deeves, George Rumbatl, Eric Switzer, and Graham Yeats. This ottattorts."'Itnad:,,att4'trOP41e:WO foursome now go on to the Provincial Tournament finals which will be held at the South River Legion Branch on April 26th. In all, 30' teams Pav- ticipated, and all four Zones in our District had active entries in the tournament. Second place high doubles also went to our Sohn Deeves and Eric Switzer. ,Two additional 'teams from our branch .participated and made a good showing, but failed to qualify for the top six positions. They were Slim Lacroix, John Lawson, Russ Beyers, Jon Sem- ple, Ed Deeves, Walter Snary, Bill. Harris, and Allan Parks, As .a' first year effort, our affiliates and honorary meMbers were invited to participate in a district euchre tour- nament last • Saturday afternoon in 'the Harriston Legion Branch. Bringing home ithe district • trophy • and champions :for the day's play were 13111 Marsh, Jake DeR4yter, Bill Jenkins, and Milt Schreiber. They were certainly elated by their success and so they should be, as this is the first year that com- petitions of this type have been made available for our Affiliate and ' - The. .Legion in. Tuesday evening, men's euchre had the best attendance for the whale season with 15 tables in action. Harold • Black had the high with an 87 score. Many fellows had the same lone hand total, but in the end Brian Adams was declared the winner with six lone hands. Joe Atkinson has the low score with a 52. High score for the - season hasn't changed as Eric Schellenberger still has a slim lead with a season average of 74.6. Low couple for the evening were Bee Cooke and Brenda Atkinson., Our branch was again busy all afternoon on Friday as we hosted the Huron County Milk -Producers for their an- nual 'meeting in our auditorium and it was a full house with about 200 milk producers in at- tendance, . On Saturday evening, Our Clinton Firemen held their annual fund raising dance with the proceeds going towards Muscular Dystrophy. Again, it was a full house with Eric and Marg Switzer taking care of the bar facilities. The lunch which followed also topped all expectations, as Billy and Rene carved the hips of beef for all the guests.
