The devotional period was taken. by Mrs.... Eleanor Bradnock. The scripture lesson was read alter- nately and the meditation was followed by prayer. The roll call was an- swered by a bible verse - Mrs. Sanderson gave a reading, A Thought for Every Day. The mission study, Turning on the Lights in 1980, was taken by Mrs. Frank Raithby. She told about the missionary's challenge in today's world espite famine and turmoil. The minutes of the February meeting were approved as read by the secretary, Mrs. Lillian Letherland. The financial statement wai—given by Mrs. Frances Clark. It was announced that the Cancer Society would again sponsor the selling of daffodils. Please phone Mrs. Clark your •order before March 24 along with the money. The meeting was closed With a hymn and the benediction by Mrs. Bradnock. Lunch was served by Mrs. San- derson. 4-H MEETING The fifth meeting of Auburn 2, 4-H club members was held last week at the home of Mrs. Tom Cunningham. The president, Barbara Gross, was in charge of the meeting which was opened with the 4-.1.f. pledge. The minutes of the previous uaeeting were adoptedi as read by Annette Losereit. A discussion took, place concerning the plans for Achievement Day which is to be held onMay 8. Each member filled in a chart - My room as. rd like it to be with real samples of carpet and wallpaper. Pamela Losereit and Marjorie Sierfsema are to be in charge of the club' exhibit. The meeting was closed with the 4-1-1 motto. Barbara and Susan Gross served lunch. SOCIAL NOTES Mrs. Lillian Letherland visited for a few days last week with her daughter, Mrs. Paul Lassaline and family in Goderich. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Eldo Hildebrand of Waterloo on the birth of their daughter, Martina Johanna on February 29. First grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. John Hildebrand and first great-granddaughter for Mrs. Elleda Wightman of Lucknow. Winners at the Tuesday evening euchre party held in the Community .Memorial Hall last week were: novelty, Mrs. Frances Clark; high lady, Mrs, E-dgar--Daer; low lady, Mrs. Leonard Good', high man, Kenneth McDougall; low - man, Douglas Glousher. There were 10 tables in play. Mr. Mason Robinson of Wingham was the winner last week of the Auburn and District Lions Club lottery draw. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Young and Anna -Marie attended the annual' meeting mid convention of the Ontario Farm Safety Association on Sunday and Monday of last Week held at the Cara.' Inn in MisSissaoga. Anglican Church Women The ACW of St. James met for their March meeting at the home of Estelle Wise with Blanche Deeves in charge of e the meeting. Mrs. Deeves opened the meeting by reading the Invocation and Mrs. Fred Middleton read the scripture and Lois Wise read the meditation. Mrs. Deeves welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked Mrs. Wise for opening her home to the meeting. Shirley Storey read „ the secretary's report and VeraMiller presented the treasurer's • report.
