On Good Friday, a. service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Holmesville United Church. The Women's Institute met in the school on Monday night with Ml's. Hazel- McCreath presiding at the meeting and Mrs. Charlotte Norman at the piano. The . president welcomed the Home Econi mists f nee Bird and the 4-H girls. Millie Dempsey and Effie Yeo were responsible for the program. Mrs. Yeo introduced the guest speaker Miss Bird, who told the audience that 4-H is one of the pleasures of her job. She passed a 4-H quiz to each one present with 20 questions to fill in the blanks. There are around 700 members in Huron County and needlepoint was the most popular 11rniPl't - M. f' Vc.n thanked the speaker and presented her with a gift.. Miss Cathy Mcllwain was called to the front where she wascongratulated for her dedicatign in 441 work and completion of 24 projects. . She was presented with a gift by Mrs. McCreath on behalf of the WI and- .Cathy thanked the Institute for their support and the gift. Time was allotted to all to look at the interesting display of ..4-1•1 • projects and lists of 4-H leaders and members past and present. Lunch was served. Westlake Ambulance Service advised council by letter that they plan to discontinue their service "as soon as is reasonably practicable and can be arranged." In the letter, Keith Westlake said they had negotiated an agreement of sale of the ambulance service .to another operator who planned to continue the service from the Zurich locattion,:k However, the Ambulance Services Branch of the ministry of health have refused to date to allow the sale to proceed. Westlake added that the notice was being provided to Hensall "since it is possible that you may wish to have some input into the provision of this im- portant- service t -o your community." Councillor Harry Klungel-said he was sure the people of Hensall would like to have an ambulance service based "iniZtriC1anilnote...dthat if_ council, put some pressure on the ministry it could help the Zurich firm in their sale bid, He said he couldn't see why the ministry would not permit the sale, although he suggested it may be because they think the area is over- serviced°with ambulance. services in Dashwood and Zurich being so close. Reeve Harold Knight, who said he understood that an ambulance firm in London had been in- terested in ' pur-chasing the Zurich service, suggested that the ministry should be contacted to get their explanation of why the sale had been refused. . Enterprising Citizens The Enterprising Citizens met in -the Hokn esville Church March 6 with John Deeves preside-nt, presiding and Mrs. Jean Lobb at the piano. Mrs,m Irene Cudore read the minutes of the last meeting and Mr. Fran Powell presented the treasurer's report. Correspondence was read by Mrs. Irene Cudmore. John Deeves spoke on the senior citizen housing, and the card report was given by -Blanche beeves The business meeting was adjourned by Mrs. Alice ,Porter and lunch was served by. Mrs. Hazel McCreath and Mrs. Grace Walter. A social time was held with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Lobb sang a duet and Everet Mcllwain gave a homorous reading on "Women's Lib" and played a few numbers on the mouth organ. Jack Smith gave a reading, The Old Model T, and Marion Smith gave' a reading_ on.
